Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a Principal CAD Designer with our medical device client in Boulder, CO. This is a 12-month contract with a potential for extension.

Pay:$45.00 - $55.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.


Description:
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
  • Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing and field service operations.
  • Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools, such as CAD, ProEngineer, Solidworks.
  • Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal.
  • Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.


TECHNICIAN SUPPORT CAREER STREAM:
  • Provides technical support in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development.
  • Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems.
  • Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures, and performs detailed mathematical calculations. For higher levels, may suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes.

  • Recognized as expert in technical area, with high degree of initiative, who trains, delegates and reviews the work of lower level employees and may be responsible for leading daily operations of a work unit.
  • Ensures project plans and budgets are met Recommends improvements to test processes and procedures across teams.
  • Organizational Impact: Performs most complex technical activities and identifies, evaluates, and implements continuous improvements to optimize work processes.
  • Work consists of technical tasks of the highest complexity.
  • Innovation and Complexity: Technical problems faced are general and may require understanding of broader sets of issues and other job areas, but typically are not complex.
  • Responsible for working with supervisor to implement adjustments or enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of job area and/or functions. 
  • Communication and Influence: Communicates typically with internal contacts, including participating in benchmarking other business units.
  • Obtains and provides technical information on matters of significant importance to one or more job areas.
  • Leadership and Talent Management: May act as a team leader or coach and assistant to the supervisor / manager.
  • May delegate tasks to other team members and be responsible for the review of work product and processes.
  • Does not have formal management responsibilities, but provides input to people management decisions in this area.


Required Knowledge and Experience:
  • Requires expert knowledge within a specific discipline typically gained through extensive work experience and/or education.


Shift:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Machine Safety and Ergonomic Standards
  • Mechanism design and development experience using CAD (Creo or SolidWorks preferred)
  • Practical experience in Sheet Metal Fabrication (Manual bending brake, shear, etc.)
  • Practical experience in the manufacture of complex instruments.


Start:
  • Experience in medical industry
  • Practical experience in Machining (Manual Mills, Lathes, etc.)
  • Validation and process development experience
