Principal - Valuation (Complex Securities & Derivatives)

Overview
A leading valuation and advisory firm is seeking an experienced Principal to join its Valuation Services team. This role focuses on complex securities and derivatives, leading technical engagements, managing client relationships, and overseeing multiple project teams. Ideal candidates bring deep expertise in structured products and illiquid investments, along with strong leadership and client-facing experience.
Key Responsibilities
Lead valuation engagements involving derivatives, structured products, private credit, and Level III assets
Serve as primary contact for clients, auditors, and other stakeholders on technical matters
Review complex financial models and valuation analyses
Manage multiple projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery
Mentor junior staff and support team development
Contribute to internal methodologies and best practices
Support business development and client relationship growth
Prepare and review valuation reports and presentations
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
8+ years of relevant experience in valuation, advisory, or investment banking
Strong expertise in complex securities and derivative valuation
Knowledge of relevant accounting standards (e.g., ASC 820, 815, 718)
Proven leadership and project management experience
Exceptional financial modeling and analytical skills
Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
Proficiency in Excel and presentation tools; programming experience is a plus
Professional certification required (e.g., CFA, ASA, CVA)
