This role requires a dynamic, visionary educational leader responsible for creating a vibrant and safe school climate, overseeing daily operations, supporting teacher growth, setting a high standard of excellence, and prioritizing the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.
Minimum Qualifications
- NYS School Building Leader Certification (SBL) or NYS District Leader Certification
- Required experience as a school administrator
- Required experience as a teacher
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Vision
- Serve as a visionary educational leader.
- Support educators and staff in understanding and implementing district goals and curriculum; aligning school initiatives with district priorities.
- Consistently demonstrate and model high moral, ethical, and professional standards of performance and personal integrity.
- Work collaboratively with other school and district administrators.
- Assist in developing and implementing positive public relations for the school.
- Assist the Superintendent of Schools or his designees in other designated areas as needed.
School Culture and Climate
- Cultivate a positive school culture characterized by mutual respect, inclusivity, and high expectations for academic achievement and behavior.
- Promote a sense of belonging and pride, fostering a supportive and welcoming environment for all students and staff.
- Establish and enforce disciplinary policies and procedures to maintain a safe and orderly school environment.
- Address behavioral issues and promote positive behavior through proactive initiatives, such as character education programs, and provide counseling and support services to students in need.
- Be prepared to respond effectively to crises and emergency situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.
- Make timely and decisive decisions based on prioritizing the needs of the school community, communicating transparently, and collaborating with appropriate authorities.
Instruction and Curriculum
- Oversee the implementation, integration, and development of curriculum to meet academic standards and promote student growth and achievement.
- Partner with teachers to model current child-centered best instructional practices that are inclusive, differentiated, and rigorous.
- Provide support and guidance to educators in designing engaging and effective instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners.
- Possess deep knowledge of instructional best practices and the structures that support student learning.
Professional Development and Support
- Support teachers by providing mentoring, professional development opportunities, and feedback to improve instructional practices.
- Facilitate collaboration among staff members, foster a positive work environment, and recognize and reward teacher achievements.
- Identify, develop, and conduct professional learning opportunities to support the overall improvement of professional practice across instructional and non-instructional staff, aiming to enhance teaching effectiveness and improve student outcomes.
Operations and Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the school, including budget management, staffing, scheduling, and facility maintenance.
- Allocate resources effectively, manage school finances responsibly, and ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
- Work with custodial staff to ensure the building is properly maintained.
- Follow all applicable laws, regulations and policies.
Data-Driven Decision-Making
- Use data to monitor student progress, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions about instructional strategies and interventions.
- Analyze assessment results, track attendance and behavior patterns, and hold themselves and others accountable for achieving academic goals.
- Lead Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) meetings to address various academic, social-emotional, behavioral, attendance, family, peer, and health matters affecting students, providing targeted support and interventions.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong partnerships with parents, families, and the broader community to support student success.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with faculty/staff, students, district colleagues, and families about matters pertaining to the school and school activities.
- Attend appropriate evening events and BOE meetings as needed.
Salary Range: $170,000-$190,000, contingent upon experience
