Key Responsibilities of Principal Data Engineer:Guide the team towards successful project deliveryProvide technical leadership and key decision makingWork with and mentor individual team members to meet professional goalsContinuous effort to automate and increase team efficiencyMaintain high standards of software quality via code review, testing, automation standardization, and toolingCollaborate directly with both developers and business stakeholdersProvide estimates and risk-reducing spike storiesAssist in collection and documentation of requirements from businessAssist in planning deployments and migrationsPrepare status updates and run the daily standupAnalyze data problems and provide solutionsAssess opportunities for improvements and optimizationRequired Qualifications of the Principal Data Engineer:Masters Degree or equivalent work experienceMinimum 12 years of experience working with open source databasesMinimum 10 years of experience working with ETL and related data pipeline technologies.Highly proficient in open source SQL systems, particularly MySQL and PostgreSQLProficiency in multiple scripting languages, including Python and RubyDemonstrable experience with cloud-based ETL tools, including EMR,Expertise with distributed data stores, with demonstrable experience using Redshift and with optimizing query performanceDeep understanding of data structures and schema designPrior work with AWS ecosystem, particularly RDS, SQS and SNS, StepFunctions, CDK)Exceptional analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication (both oral and written) skillsSelf-motivated, driven, resourceful, and able to get things doneEnjoy working in fast-paced, collaborative, Agile environmentsAbility to adapt and learn quickly is a fundamental necessityBenefits:401(k)Dental InsuranceHealth insuranceHealth savings accountPaid time offProfessional development assistanceVision insurance
