The Role

This role is responsible for the reliability, performance, and availability of Fidelity’s mission-critical Mainframe Db2 z/OS database platforms supporting high-volume brokerage and trading applications.

As a DBA you will play a hands-on, senior technical role supporting day-to-day database administration operations while also influencing database architecture, replication strategy, and platform modernization.

Key Responsibilities

· Support and maintain large-scale Db2 databases on z/OS for business-critical trading and brokerage applications

· Design, configure, and maintain low-latency data replication using IBM IIDR (Q Rep / CDC) in Active-Active and Active-Passive architectures

· Perform proactive performance analysis and tuning to ensure optimal response times and system stability

· Lead troubleshooting and rapid resolution of complex, time-sensitive production issues with a strong sense of ownership and attention to detail

· Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24x7 production support for critical database platforms

· Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure partners, and vendors to deliver resilient, scalable database solutions

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Required Qualifications

· Extensive hands-on experience managing large, complex mainframe Db2 z/OS database environments

· Deep expertise with IBM IIDR replication technologies (Q Rep / CDC), including setup, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting

· Strong skills in Db2 utilities, SQL, JCL, and working knowledge of COBOL application interactions

· Proven experience supporting mission-critical production systems with strict SLAs

· Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across applications, infrastructure, and vendor teams

Preferred / Nice to Have

· Experience integrating mainframe data platforms with distributed databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and CockroachDB

· Exposure to Kafka and event-driven or streaming data architectures

· Familiarity with hybrid environments spanning on-prem and AWS cloud

· Experience contributing to platform modernization, automation, or resiliency initiatives.

The Team

The Mainframe DBA team manages Fidelity Brokerage’s Db2 z/OS database platform and its integration with distributed and cloud-based data ecosystems.

The team is responsible for the full database lifecycle — from physical design and replication strategy through deployment, performance optimization, capacity planning, upgrades, patching, and access/security management. We work closely with application partners and enterprise technology teams to ensure Fidelity’s core trading platforms remain highly available, scalable, and resilient.
