This is a critical role responsible for ensuring our electrical systems, infrastructure, and processes meet all relevant UK legislation and regulatory standards, including those specific to explosives manufacturing environments. You will play a key role in maintaining safe operations, improving reliability, and shaping the site's electrical strategy.

  • Take ownership as the Responsible Person for:

o Electrical infrastructure on site

o Electrical engineering standards across the facility

o Electrical safety requirements under the Explosive Regulations

  • Define, develop, and promote electrical specifications and standards for new and existing plant and equipment.
  • Manage contractor activity relating to electrical engineering on site.
  • Maintain and develop the site's electrical documentation, including drawings, manuals, and standards.
  • Identify and manage electrical obsolescence programmes.
  • Define and support the delivery of electrical training requirements for the engineering team.
  • Lead continuous improvement of plant reliability, safety systems, and engineering practices.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation, standards, and best practice within electrical engineering.
  • Contribute to and implement the site's electrical strategy in line with the Site Development Plan.
  • Manage small capital projects (typically under £250k).

About You

We are looking for someone who brings both strong technical capability and a proactive, safety‑led mindset.

  • Experience working in a high‑hazard or regulated environment
  • Strong knowledge of UK electrical legislation (e.g. Electricity at Work Regulations, DSEAR)

  • IT skills including AutoCAD (or similar)
  • Understanding of risk assessments and engineering safety principles

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Time‑served apprenticeship with HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering

Why Join Us?

  • Play a key role in ensuring compliance and continuous improvement
  • Be part of a collaborative engineering team with opportunities to influence site strategy
  • Opportunity to lead projects and drive improvements in plant reliability and safety
