    Description

    Job Description:

    We are seeking a Packaging Engineer to support sustaining engineering activities within a pharmaceutical R&D environment. This role is responsible for maintaining and improving existing product packaging and packaging processes while supporting quality, regulatory compliance, continuity of supply, and cost optimization initiatives. The Packaging Engineer will also support new product development by contributing to packaging design, development, verification testing, and manufacturing process qualification.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead and support packaging projects related to quality improvements, regulatory compliance, supplier changes, cost savings, and new product introductions.
    • Manage multiple packaging projects with moderate complexity while ensuring timely completion of project milestones.
    • Develop testing protocols and participate in change control activities for packaging modifications.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, manufacturing facilities, and suppliers to implement packaging changes.
    • Evaluate and approve new packaging materials and systems while identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction.
    • Develop packaging material specifications, engineering drawings, and packaging procedures.
    • Plan and coordinate project activities to achieve defined objectives and timelines.
    • Apply analytical and problem-solving techniques to resolve packaging-related issues and improve packaging performance.
    • Support financial analysis and business justification for packaging projects.
    • Travel to manufacturing facilities and supplier locations as required.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in packaging engineering or a related engineering discipline.
    • Experience managing packaging engineering projects in a regulated manufacturing environment.
    • Strong knowledge of packaging materials, packaging processes, and packaging development methodologies.
    • Experience with change control, design verification, and process qualification.
    • Experience collaborating with cross-functional technical and business teams.
    • Experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.

    Shift Hours:

    • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    • Primarily onsite with the possibility of remote work up to 2 days per week.
