Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interaction with design/product teams to plan and execute MOCVD growths aimed at realizing next generation and newly conceived epitaxial designs and structures.
  • Develop and execute DOEs to define and optimize MOCVD process windows. Areas of improvement include capability, yield, throughput, and/or costs.
  • Work with Equipment Engineers to help identify and design reactor hardware modifications or MOCVD process changes as needed in support of new process development.
  • Presentation of development results and assigned manufacturing-based metrics to senior management, to internal interdisciplinary based teams, and to external customers.
  • Apply engineering and manufacturing principles to transition epi designs from development to pilot production.
  • Support parametric analysis as needed for yield/performance issues.

Education & Experience

  • Masters degree or higher in engineering, physics, or chemistry, and 5+ years of related experience.
  • Experience with Quality Management System.
  • Solid State Device Physics background in Optoelectronic devices required.
  • 5-10 years of epitaxial growth in a production environment preferred.
  • Experience under ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management System.
  • Experience with SPC, Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing.
  • Experience with statistical software packages.
  • Proficient with MS Office Software.
  • Knowledge of SQL preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills required.

Skills

  • Familiarity with SPC, Gage R&R, DOE, MSA and other aspects of manufacturing and data analysis.
  • JMP experience a plus.
  • Ability to communicate and present complex technical concepts and results to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Background in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, electronic engineering preferred but not essential.

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment and non-climate controlled manufacturing facility.
  • Must be able to travel domestically 5% of the time and internationally 5% of the time.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to wear clean room attire for a Class 100/1000 clean room.
  • Able to stand for 5 hours a day.
