Position Specific Description

Provides geotechnical, structural, and civil engineering review and best-practices guidance for NextEra Energy projects from concept through commercial operation date. Serves on the Engineering & Construction Civil SME Team supporting geotechnical, structural, site development, stormwater, and erosion control disciplines. The position can be performed from the Juno Beach, Florida office or remotely.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide primarily geotechnical, and secondarily structural and civil, engineering support, across wind, solar, storage, clean fuels, transmission, and substation projects
  • Develop and promote geotechnical/civil/structural best practices
  • Perform design and constructability reviews with timely feedback
  • Resolve critical issues impacting cost and schedule
  • Define scope, assess risks, and develop mitigation strategies
  • Support financing efforts with Independent Engineers and lenders
  • Coordinate external consultants and validate technical opinions
  • Conduct due diligence on emerging technologies
  • Support equipment/material evaluations and NCR reviews
  • Perform annual spec updates and lessons learned

Preferred Skills

  • MS in Geotechnical Engineering
  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineering license
  • 10+ years geotechnical engineering (field, lab review, reporting, construction observation, design review, project management)
  • Strong knowledge of buildable design
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Independent analytical/problem-solving capability
  • Value engineering and cost optimization experience

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 20 to 25 percent travel within North America
