Title: Principal Engineer - Packaging

Work Location: Englewood Cliffs, NJ or South Burlington, VT

Duration: 18 months 

Work Arrangement: Hybrid in NJ or VT office-3x a week.

Duration: 18-months with potential for extension and/or conversion depending on needs.

Packaging R&D Specialist (Ice Cream Category)

 

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Packaging R&D Specialist to support packaging development and implementation across a range of business initiatives, including innovation, renovation, quality improvement, and cost optimization projects. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams, manufacturing sites, and suppliers to deliver packaging solutions that support business objectives.

Location: Englewood Cliffs, NJ or South Burlington, VT

 

Key Responsibilities


  • Lead and manage the end-to-end execution of packaging development and transformation activities.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, manufacturing facilities, and suppliers to coordinate packaging trials, testing, and validation activities.
  • Develop, update, and maintain packaging specifications and technical documentation.
  • Support packaging-related supply chain and manufacturing initiatives.
  • Execute packaging and engineering test plans, analyze results, and provide recommendations.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and key findings to stakeholders at all levels, including non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure packaging solutions meet quality, performance, and business requirements.

Required Qualifications & Experience

 

Education & Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, or another relevant technical field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of packaging experience within a consumer packaged goods (Client/FMCG) environment.

  • Experience supporting packaging specifications, testing, and supply chain activities.

Technical Skills

 

  • Strong knowledge of packaging materials, including:

    • Flexible packaging

    • Paper cups and lids

    • Corrugated packaging


    •  

  • Experience with packaging testing methods, measurement equipment, and validation protocols.

  • Proficiency with:

    • Microsoft Office Suite

    • CAPE/TOPS (or similar package design software)

    • Packaging specification management systems

  • Preferred:

    • Experience with 3D printing software and equipment

    • Experience with ArtiosCAD
