Position Overview Principal Test Engineer – Environmental Testing. Onsite role located in Tucson, AZ. U.S. citizenship required with an active DoD security clearance (Secret or higher, with ability to obtain interim clearance). Date posted: 2026-06-15. Location: 1151 E Hermans Rd, Tucson, AZ 930xx.The Environmental Test (ET) organization provides testing capability across the product life cycle, including mechanical shock, electrodynamic vibration, salt fog, climatic environments, high temperature lamp testing, structural testing, test fixture design, and custom instrumentation installations and data acquisition support. The role involves collaborating with the Integrated Product (IP) team and testing engineering customers.Key Responsibilities Consult and provide testing guidance to internal program customers, ensuring proposed testing meets intended requirements.Write test plans and procedures that meet safety and program requirements, and review plans and procedures written by others.Create schedules and budgets for all testing activities.Oversee and personally conduct environmental testing to validate models for new product qualification, production acceptance, flight test clearance, engineering evaluations, and failure investigations.Implement engineering best practices to ensure testing is performed accurately, on schedule, and within budget.Analyze test data real‑time and post‑test to validate that requirements have been met.Communicate status of ongoing testing efforts with ET leadership and internal program customers.Design, model, and analyze vibration and structural test fixtures using CREO Parametric and Ansys Workbench.Qualifications Must HaveDegree in a STEM field with a minimum of 8 years of prior engineering experience.Experience with environmental test vibration shaker systems or instrumentation (accelerometers, thermocouples, strain gages, load cells, etc.) and data acquisition systems (Dewetron, DeweSoft, LabView, Agilent/Keysight, Benchlink, Somat, etc.).PreferPreferred majors: Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechanical engineering.Experience with commercial environmental test equipment, including vibration test systems and thermal chambers.Experience with vibration control systems and associated software.Experience with solid modeling and analysis software applications.High situational awareness and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Current DoD Secret or TS/SSBI clearance.Compensation Salary range: $107,500USD – $204,500USD.
