SUMMARY:
- The Principal Equipment Engineering Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing complex engineering projects related to equipment design, development, installation, and maintenance.
- Oversee a team of engineers, set project goals and timelines, coordinate resources, and ensure project deliverables are met.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Research and Development, to ensure seamless integration of equipment into production processes.
- Additionally, may provide technical expertise, troubleshoot issues, and implement process improvements to optimize equipment performance and efficiency.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the day-to-day project schedule for the design and build and/or design and overhaul of Rail vehicle equipment.
- Assigns and supervises the activities of a consultant engineering firm throughout all phases of the vehicle procurement, from Request for Proposal (RFP) through build and warranty.
- Develops, prepares and implements force account budgets to an accuracy, adequate for the completion of a vehicle program.
- Monitors the project to ensure timely cost-effective activity and initiates corrective action as required.
- Ensures that effective mechanisms for planning and resource allocation for the project are implemented.
- Participates in the development of technical specifications for the procurement of revenue and non-revenue Rail equipment.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related area.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Six (6) years of progressive responsible experience in maintenance, repair, and/or design of Rail vehicle equipment.
