Global Executive Development (GED) is seeking a skilled Principal, VP Experiences, to design and lead Amazons flagship executive development experiences for the VP population. This role is responsible for the end-to-end design and delivery of VP-level leadership experiences (e.g., programs, summits, ongoing learning) as part of Amazons highest-visibility development investments for its most senior leaders.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in executive development, including facilitation, exceptional program management skills, and the credibility to influence and partner with senior executives. Success requires a strong point-of-view on what great leadership development looks like, the operational rigor to execute flawlessly, and the judgment to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics with discretion.

This position will directly impact Amazons leadership pipeline and the ongoing growth of our VP population, requiring someone who can balance rigorous evaluation with meaningful development while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and excellence.

Key job responsibilities • Design and deliver immersive VP-level leader experiences and senior leader seminars that strengthen enterprise thinking, broaden exposure to executive perspectives, and accelerate leadership readiness • Lead participant selection and assessment processes for development programs, partnering with senior leaders and using data-driven talent evaluation and succession planning insights • Develop challenging, business-relevant learning experiences that build cross-functional collaboration and strategic capability among senior leaders • Establish personalized development planning processes that support participants before, during, and after program experiences • Partner with senior leadership and key stakeholders to ensure program design reflects current business priorities and evolving organizational needs • Measure and report on program effectiveness, including impact on succession planning, leadership pipeline strength, and participant development outcomes • Drive continuous improvement of programs based on participant feedback, business outcomes, and organizational learning

About the team The SLX organization enables senior leaders to build and run exceptional businesses in an era of unprecedented scale, complexity, and rapid change by aligning business strategy with talent strategy through three core pillars: executive development, organizational planning and effectiveness, and executive talent management, amplified by analytics and science capabilities and dedicated go-to-market expertise.

Global Executive Development (GED) designs and delivers leadership experiences that onboard, assess, and develop Amazons senior leaders throughout their entire leadership journey. Executive talent management defines and executes the talent philosophy for the executive lifecycle, including cyclical deliverables such as facilitating VP promotions and preparing for Board succession planning.

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
