Do you see tolerance stacks as a roadmap? Ready to turn them into reality?

Join TOMZ and lead the dimensional assurance that keeps our medical devices trusted in the field. Imagine partnering with manufacturing in the morning to de-risk a new process, then rolling up your sleeves in the afternoon to build a fixture and validate a test method—closing the loop with actionable data that sharpens quality across product families.

You will

  • Advance metrology strategies for medical device manufacturing by evaluating process risks, implementing controls/CAPA, and developing robust test methods.
  • Program and run vision systems, CMMs, PLCs, optical comparators/sensors, and laser measurement systems.
  • Act as the GD&T SME and bench layout expert to solve complex measurement problems.
  • Co-create clear test methods and carry out Test Method Validations with thorough evaluation.
  • Leverage precision instruments: electronic height gages, calipers, micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and plug/thread Go/No-Go gages.
  • Design/model/build inspection workholding and specialized fixtures.
  • Guide Incoming, In-Process, and Final inspection plan execution; own First Article Inspections.
  • Manage gage calibration activities end-to-end and define calibration standards.
  • Contribute to materials testing in chemistry and mechanics as required.
  • Drive Quality Best Practices and GDP/GMP continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze and report inspection data, highlighting rejection rates, defect signatures, and trends by customer/product family.
  • Review ECOs to release Quality Engineering documentation; produce precise inspection instructions.
  • Follow the TOMZ Quality Management System and perform other duties as assigned.

You bring

  • Proactive, fast-paced work style; clear English communication in writing and speech.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and foundational statistics/sampling.
  • 4+ years in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years in manufacturing quality with advanced metrology, including CMM and/or vision programming.
  • 3+ years of GD&T and measurement programming system training.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Bonus points

  • ASQ-CQT, CQE, or CRE; DMIS programming certifications.
  • Background in Class I/II/III medical devices and/or aerospace, defense, or pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Hands-on familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820, and EU MDR, plus design controls, GMP, supplier qualification, auditing, QC (GD&T, Nonconforming Materials, MRB), CAPA, and complaint handling.

Travel

  • Approximately 5% annually; may require multiple overnight trips and occasional weekends.

Physical realities of the role

  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and lift up to 30 lbs; team lift/mechanical assist above 30 lbs.
  • Regular exposure to oil, grease, noise, cleaning solvents, dust, metal particles, sparks, coolant, and sharp-edged materials; PPE and engineering controls may be required (safety glasses, dust masks, ear plugs, cut-resistant or chemical-resistant gloves).
  • Prolonged sitting with extensive keyboard/mouse use; sustained visual focus with correction if needed; repetitive hand and arm movements.
