This is the cloud brain of Microsoft Defenders real-time protection: file threat defense, URL and web reputation, network protection, and the threat-intelligence pipelines and verdict services that feed them. Its powered by hundreds of ML models and graph-based intelligence, drawing on first- and third-party signal at planetary scale. It cannot be wrong, and it cannot be slow. Responsibilities
Lead a globally distributed engineering organization across North America and Europe, spanning real-time systems, large-scale data platforms, machine learning, and threat intelligence.
Drive a critical and complex technical agenda, including:
Modernizing the protection stack onto Kubernetes, modern .NET, and ARM-based compute
Unifying fragmented threat intelligence into a single platform and API layer leveraged across Microsoft Security
Scaling AI-driven detection capabilities
Ensuring services remain always-on and continuously improve in efficiency at global scale (supporting over a billion users)
Define and set the technical direction for protecting a billion devices in real time, shaping one of the most consequential engineering missions within Microsoft Security.
Build, operate, and evolve large-scale, low-latency cloud services with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and performance.
Grow and develop engineers and engineering leaders, setting a high bar for technical excellence, ownership, and impact.
Lead from the front on the most challenging engineering problems, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and care in building world-class systems.

Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $165,600.00 - $296,400.00 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800.00 - $331,200.00 per year.
