The IFC Equity Mobilization Department (AMC) within the Treasury & Syndications Vice-President Unit (VPU) mobilizes and manages capital for private equity investments in emerging markets. Established in 2009, AMC provides investors with access to IFC's emerging markets investment pipeline, expanding the supply of long-term capital to these markets. This enhances IFC's development goals and generates profits for investors by leveraging IFC's global reach, standards, investment approach, and track record. The Fund of Funds ("FoF") platform is one of AMC''s longest-running, multi-fund teams, spanning climate, generalist, and rules-based sustainability mandates across successive vintages, with more than US$1.5 billion in assets under management. The team, some of whom have worked together for over a decade, maintain dozens of active General Partner ("GP") relationships, Advisory Board seats, and close Limited Partner ("LP") partnerships that go back, in some cases, to the inception of the group 15+ years ago. These activities run continuously across fund generations and maintaining continuity of these relationships, with GPs, LPs, IFC investment departments, and within the FoF team itself, is important to the FoF platform''s ability to raise and deploy successor funds. This position is scoped for an experienced practitioner who can assume those relationships without disruption to these relationships or any of the FoF team's funds currently in market.

AMC is seeking to hire an investment professional as a Principal to head the Fund of Funds team. He/she will report to the Director of the AMC.

Duties & Accountabilities:

His/her responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Team

• Lead a team of five experienced investment professionals, already embedded in AMC FoF platform. He/she would need to leverage institutional memory and existing relationships to ensure team stability, morale, and uninterrupted productivity.
• Lead by example to maintain and scale a trusted, high-performance, inclusive, and collegial team culture.
• Encourage team members to not only excel at their jobs and deliver for LPs but also to innovate products and solutions within the FoF platform and develop professionally.
• Leverage the expertise of AMC team members and collaborate closely with IFC counterparts across various departments essential to the operating model of AMC and AMC-managed Funds.
• Comfort operating as both an individual investment professional and team leader, given the lean size of the AMC FoF team.
• Be a spokesperson for AMC both internally and externally, including in public fora, investor training sessions, and industry conferences.

Investor Relations and Fundraising

• Lead the fundraising of any new AMC FoF product, including developing and drafting PPM and pitchbook materials, while also managing, coordinating, and participating in investor roadshow presentations, the creation and management of the data room, handling DDQs in response to LP queries.
• Contribute significantly to AMC's vision of being the leader in equity mobilization for impact investing in emerging markets. This involves:

o Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective AMC investors. He/she should be able to demonstrate strong, personal, and durable direct relationships with institutional investors,

o Collaborate with AMC senior leadership, AMC fund teams, and IFC departments on product development, fundraising, origination, and execution. Leverage the FoF team's unique perspective as an LP to provide operational value-add and strategic guidance; and

o Develop and maintain good working relationships with the range of IFC and AMC teams that contribute to AMC's mobilization mandate.

• Assume immediate stewardship of AMC FoF team''s existing sovereign, pension, insurance, and DFI LP relationships. Recognize the goals and nuances of each relationship to maintain and actively scale AMC's and the FoF team's existing investor relationships.

Equity Investment and Portfolio Management

• Lead the FoF team's origination, pipeline evaluation, portfolio construction, structuring, and execution of FoF team investment programs, including investments in funds, platforms, and direct co-investments.
• Coordinate and proactively manage the FoF team's existing equity portfolio of funds and co-investments to increase the value and realize attractive returns for Limited Partners, including handling existing complex and challenging fund situations and bespoke end-of-life structures.
• Develop relationships with senior management and serve as an Advisory Board member of investee funds to contribute to the performance of the underlying fund's portfolio and strategic direction of the fund and GP. Engagement should have been through the full cycle of commitment, drawdown, value creation, restructuring where required, and liquidation.
• Lead and generate high-quality material for quarterly and annual fund reporting.
• Fund of Funds Investment Committee (IC) experience, including pipeline development, investment decision-making, commitment sizing, portfolio construction, and investment pacing, is a plus.

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will have spent a substantial portion of his/her career in a private capital fund management business investing in emerging markets and will have operated as a General Partner raising and deploying capital and as a Limited Partner institutional investor in developing markets.

He/she will have strong expertise in fund manager selection, fund- and co-investment level due diligence, structuring and execution, negotiating complex LPA and side letter terms, fee discounts, valuations, portfolio management, and overall fund of funds platform strategy. He/she will have a deep understanding of international best practices, benchmarks, and global trends in emerging markets private equity fund investing, and strong analytical and technical skills.

Given the number of AMC FoF programs currently in operation at various stages of their terms, he/she must demonstrate a proven capacity to carry multiple concurrent mandates of differing vintages and strategies without a loss of quality or responsiveness and do so by leveraging the expertise and capacity of the other professionals on the AMC FoF team.

Education and Experience:

• Master of Business Administration or equivalent degree.
• A minimum of 12 years of relevant professional experience in a private equity firm and/or a related financial institution, focusing on private investments in emerging markets, of which at least 10 years must have been in a fund of funds role. Within that period, he/she must have accumulated:

o Substantive fund of funds development experience: Direct experience across more than one fund-of-funds strategy, including involvement in the design, marketing, and launch of at least two fund of funds vehicles from inception through first close.

o Substantive General Partner experience: personally originating, underwriting, committing, monitoring, and exiting fund positions and direct co-investments. Strong track record of portfolio management of complex private equity investments, including workouts, GP transitions, secondaries, and end-of-life fund restructuring, a plus. Investing and monitoring across multiple emerging market regions is a plus.

o Substantive Limited Partner-facing experience: personally developing and managing senior institutional investor relationships, all aspects of fund development and fundraising, day-to-day fund operations (capital calls/distributions, legal amendments and waivers, quarterly and annual reporting, etc.), as well as other ad-hoc LP communications, including pipeline, portfolio, fund forecasting, benchmarking, etc.

• Strong relationship management experience - with internal and external stakeholders sustained over multiple fund cycles with the same counterparties.
• He/she should be able to evidence (and be willing to continue) a sustained, multi-year, and relationship-driven tenure in keeping with the importance of team stability and the long-horizon nature of private equity fund management. Fragmented tenures and ancillary or changing roles are inconsistent with the multi-vintage relationship obligations of this role.
• Familiarity and the ability to work within the operating environment of IFC and/or a comparable DFI. Prior experience operating inside an IFI is strongly preferred, as the role requires effectiveness from the outset across established GP, LP, and internal IFC relationships without a learning curve.

Skills and Competencies:

Relationship Management:

• Proven experience developing and sustaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management of potential clients, investors, financial and technical partners, and government officials.
• Established, current relationships with emerging markets General Partners across multiple regions, sufficient to give insight and access to market-leading funds.

Private Equity Experience:

• Strong technical skills and experience in emerging markets fund manager assessment, LPA and side-letter negotiation, transaction structuring, valuation, financial modeling, commitment pacing, and portfolio management required.
• Experience as a Board of Director and/or Fund Advisory Board member across diverse companies, funds, and sectors is required.
• Participation in manager identification and selection (across PE, VC, and Infra strategies), portfolio construction, and private equity fund management is required. Investment Committee membership within a fund of funds or comparable multi-manager vehicle is a plus.

Others:

• Outstanding analytical and critical thinking abilities, with a capacity to synthesize complex information.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; fluency in other languages (e.g., French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese) is a plus.
• A record of external thought leadership on emerging markets private equity through publications, conference participation, or industry working groups that support AMC''s positioning with investors is a plus.
• Mature business judgment and sound commercial instincts.
• Highly motivated and committed to the highest ethical standards.
