Overview

We are looking for a Principal Lease Fitout Program Manager to join our team.

Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud, delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals and live/online services worldwide. CO+I is responsible for the infrastructure, security, compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability that power Microsoft's cloud platform. Our focus is on enabling smart growth, driving high efficiency, and delivering trusted experiences to customers and partners globally.

Within CO+I, the Air Gapped Cloud (AGC) Delivery & Execution organization is responsible for delivering secure, mission-critical infrastructure in highly regulated environments. This team translates demand signals into predictable capacity delivery and serves as the single-threaded owner for end-to-end infrastructure execution. The organization integrates program management, datacenter development, construction, integration, and readiness from early planning through operational handoff while upholding the highest standards of security, safety, quality, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Construction & Fit-Out Delivery

Own construction execution for leased data center fit-outs from mobilization through commissioning and handoff, ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, quality, and readiness commitments.

  • Drive Partner Execution & Field Coordination

Direct landlord teams, general contractors, and trade partners to deliver coordinated construction outcomes, resolving field issues and maintaining alignment to integrated schedules and milestones.

  • Enable Integration & Technical Readiness

Ensure construction and technical infrastructure (power, cooling, network, and systems) are delivered and sequenced to support integration, commissioning, and operational readiness.

  • Oversee Commissioning & Handover

Coordinate system testing and commissioning to validate performance and ensure all infrastructure meets acceptance criteria prior to Ready for Service and operations turnover.

  • Manage Risk, Safety, and Delivery Performance

Drive proactive risk identification, enforce safety and compliance standards, and provide clear reporting and escalation to ensure predictable, secure execution.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required pre-offer and post-hire for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
  • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree AND 12+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • Experience managing construction execution across full project lifecycle (planning, build, commissioning, handover)

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating cross-functional teams (contractors, engineers, technical teams) and driving delivery against schedule, cost, and quality commitments

  • Proven ability to manage project risks, change events, and performance reporting across complex delivery environments

  • Demonstrated success leading integration readiness and infrastructure deployment sequencing (power, cooling, network systems)

  • Experience operating in secure, regulated, or compliance-driven environments (e.g. critical infrastructure, air-gapped systems)

  • PMP, CCM, RCDD, DCDC, CDCDP or equivalent certification in project or construction management

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
