Principal-level Project Managers (PM Prin) to support a rapidly growing transmission project portfolio in Ohio. This role requires experienced professionals who can quickly integrate into active projects and perform at a high level from day one. Candidates must have
direct experience in transmission, electrical utilities, power systems, or major commercial construction.
Work Schedule & Travel- 40-hour work week
- Flexible scheduling options:
- 4x10-hour days, or
- 5x8-hour days
- No overtime expected
- Minimal travel: Occasional day trips to project sites;no overnight travel required
- Onsite requirement: 5 days per week
Key Responsibilities- Manage one or more intermediate to complex transmission projects or program areas within a matrix team environment
- Lead all phases of project lifecycle: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control, and closeout
- Ensure all work aligns with a safe, efficient, cost-effective, and risk-balanced approach
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, resources, and tools
- Lead stakeholder communication, including detailed presentations and reporting
- Facilitate planning meetings, outage coordination, and progress updates
- Maintain strong relationships with:
- Internal and external customers
- Contractors, vendors, and suppliers
- Cross-functional project teams
- Drive accountability for adherence to system safety processes with a focus on Zero Harm
- Provide leadership, training, mentoring, and direction to team members and junior PMs
- Supervise up to two direct reports, including performance management and development planning
- Proactively manage project risks, costs, and scope changes
- Confidently challenge decisions and provide informed guidance on project execution
Required Qualifications- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field + 7 years of relevant experience, OR
- Associate’s degree in the same disciplines + 9 years of relevant experience
- Experience must include:
- Transmission, electrical utility, power systems, or major commercial construction project management
- Demonstrated success managing complex projects across all PMI PMBOK knowledge areas
- Strong expertise in:
- Construction safety
- Scope development and control
- Cost estimating and budget management
- Contracting and vendor management
- Project controls and reporting
- Risk management and quality assurance
- Experience in competitive production or utility environments
Preferred Qualifications- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and mentor other project managers
Additional Requirements- Valid state Driver’s License required
