N O T I C E OF VACANCY

2026-2027 School Year

Lake City Area Schools has posted the following administration opening:

Principal - Lake City Middle and High School

Lake City Area Schools is seeking a Principal who is not simply ready to lead - but who is unwilling to settle for anything less than what is best for children. This is a rare opportunity to join a leadership team in the middle of building something meaningful: a PreK-12 system anchored in competency-based learning, authentic experiential education, and a deep belief that every student in our community deserves a learning experience that prepares them for life, not just graduation.

Our next Principal will serve students in Grades 6-12 across our Middle and High School, leading a team of talented educators who are committed to growth, innovation, and each other. This leader will lead the continued development of a positive school culture - in which high expectations for academic programs are an integral foundation. If you are energized by what education can be - and willing to do the hard, joyful work of getting there - Lake City is your community.

WHAT WE ARE BUILDING

Standards-Based & Competency-Based Learning

LCAS has transitioned from a traditional grading model to a competency-based system rooted in a district-wide Portrait of a Learner - six competencies co-created with students, staff, families, and community members that define what it means to thrive in an ever-changing world. Our next Principal will champion this work, support teachers in designing learning experiences that develop the whole child, and help students own their growth through development of true agency.

Adventure & Experiential Education

Adventure Education is not a program at LCAS - it is a core instructional strategy. Our PreK-12 developmental continuum includes climbing, rappelling, high ropes, and trail experiences with structured progressions at Grades 6, 9, and 11. Students build resilience, confidence, collaboration, and self-awareness through real challenge - and carry those lessons back into the classroom and into life.

College & Career Readiness

We are building a College and Career pathway designed around Exposure, Experience, and Empowerment - a progression that helps students make informed, intentional decisions about their futures.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate brings demonstrated instructional leadership experience, a student-centered philosophy, and the relational intelligence to build trust with students, staff, families, and community.

Education/Certification: Master's Degree and Administrative Certification

Experience: Administrative Experience Preferred. Five years' experience as a classroom teacher Preferred.

Please submit a letter of interest and resume to Dr. Timothy Hejnal, Superintendent - thejnal@lakecitytrojans.org.

Deadline - June 16, 2026
