D. Leadership, Supervision and Development

  1. Collaborates with district staff to design staff development and professional growth opportunities for all staff.

  2. Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school.

  3. Conducts program evaluations to determine programs' value in furthering district mission and vision.

  4. Administers a system of accounting for all monies in accordance with the central office plan of accounts under the supervision of the business services director.

  5. Develops and recommends the building budget and keeps business records and executes business forms as required.

  6. Aligns budget, in coordination with staff, to district and school goals and initiatives.

E. Long-Range Planning

  1. Assures an ongoing process of data collection to gain information that assists the board of education in determining the future needs of students.

  2. Involves the staff, students, and community in continuously improving the strategic planning processes of the school.

  3. Works with all departments and department chairs to ensure that the school meets the needs of all internal and external customers.

F. Basic Elements

  1. Assigns duties to staff members as prescribed by general policies, collective bargaining agreements and regulations.

  2. Supervises school activities and students at and away from school.

  3. Makes regular inspections of the school sites and buildings and reports safety and other concerns to appropriate personnel.

  4. Attends school sponsored activities and functions.

  5. Assumes responsibility for all official school correspondence, news releases, and publications.

  6. Serves on committees and attends meetings as directed by the superintendent or deputy superintendent.

  7. Handles, investigates, and remedies legitimate complaints and refers to the superintendent those cases which the principal cannot resolve.

  8. Reports immediately to the superintendent/deputy superintendent any problem involving the rights or responsibilities of the school or district.

  9. Supervises the assignment of secretarial, clerical, and other support staff duties.

  10. Delegates responsibility for the school during the absence of the principal.

  11. Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.

  12. Acts as liaison between the school and the community interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life.

  13. Assumes responsibility for professional growth and self-development through membership and participation in the affairs of professional organizations; through attendance at regional, state, and national meetings; and through enrollment in advanced courses.

Qualifications:

  1. Current valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction administrative certification in the respective classification. (DPI Code 5051 - Principal)

  2. Minimum of 5 years successful experience as a teacher and demonstrated instructional leadership.

  3. Willingness to implement a community-shared mission and vision grounded in providing equitable opportunities for all students.

  4. Expertise in change management, equitable instructional practices, standards based learning, and family engagement and community outreach.

  5. Successful experience in bringing staff and community with divergent interests to consensus.

  6. Skilled in oral/written/electronic communication.

  7. Knowledge of current educational research and willingness to implement and foster innovative practices.

  8. An asset-based approach to working with students, staff, and community.

  9. Ability to build and sustain open, collaborative relationships with teachers, community, and support and administrative staff.

  10. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
