The Richardson School is seeking a Principal at their Madison campus!

The Richardson School is an alternative placement option for local districts to access for their students with significant needs and behavioral concerns. Our students are typically diagnosed with a combination of developmental or neurological disabilities and emotional, behavioral or mental health disorders. The school calendar follows the typical 180 educational days with the opportunity to attend Extended School Year for students in need of this programming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads a highly skilled staff in therapeutic approaches, trauma informed care strategies, and positive behavioral strategies that promote a safe and inclusive learning environment

  • Is an instructional leader who will support the overall growth and development of teachers and aides

  • Onboards and mentors teachers and other direct reports into a culturally responsive and student-centered environment

  • Facilitates continuous improvement efforts with the school''s programming and services, retention of staff efforts, and overall school climate and culture

  • Works with the Executive Director and the school's admissions coordinator to expand and grow census

  • Works collaboratively with the Learning Coordinator implementing high leverage instructional practices, curriculum decisions and planning professional development.

  • Works collaboratively with the Education Director in overseeing IDEA and IEP compliance requirements

  • Works collaboratively with the schools Quality Assurance and PBIS Coordinator with MyPath's efforts to reduce and eliminate physical restraints

  • Is responsible for and manages all building and support services, whether employed or contracted; facilitating smooth operations, fiscal responsiveness, and quality. Takes necessary action to see that the physical environment of the facility is healthy, safe, and organized.

  • In collaboration with Executive Director, makes staffing recommendations and implements changes (i.e., elimination and hiring of new positions, including opening new classrooms)

  • During Bobcat camp, collaborating with the Instructional Aide Supervisor to ensure appropriate staff are present to facilitate a safe and effective learning environment.

  • Partners with the Executive Director and Company Finance resources in the development of annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring accuracy in the data compiled and solid rationale supporting the assumptions made. Manages to budget and is prepared to respond to monthly budget reviews, addressing variances with confidence based on knowledge of business facts.

  • Consults with the Executive Director and Admissions Coordinator as needed to discuss marketing, program development, budgetary, and other significant factors. Provides input for executive consideration regarding company policies, procedures, growth opportunities, and innovative ideas to improve service.

  • Performs human resource management and payroll processing functions for direct reports and co-facilitates with other supervisors regarding all other staffing needs and concerns; including interviewing and selection; orientation, training, performance monitoring, and classroom evaluations; coaching, counseling and corrective action, and resolution of employee concerns.

  • Establishes relationships and maintains regular contact with funding and school/district representatives.

  • Participates in related professional or community service organizations as needed. Promotes relationships and provides information about the Company to individuals we support and their families, local school districts, case managers and local community and other professionals.

  • Remains current with latest school information and developments; attends and actively participates in required meetings and staffing.

  • Functions within legal, licensing, School, and professional standards in maintaining a therapeutic and educational environment for students. Reports per policy any suspected student abuse, whether physical, sexual, or mental/psychological. Leads and/or participates in the investigations and is responsible for implementing appropriate action based on outcome.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Masters degree with licensure in school administration, or eligible to obtain school administration licensure within the hiring year required
  • Preference given to candidates with a special education licensure and/or background
  • 2 years' experience within Education leadership, including but not limited to budget development, marketing, and/or public relations required.
  • Possesses a working Knowledge of students with disabilities and IDEA/IEPs
  • Possesses a working knowledge of trauma-informed care and Behavioral/Therapeutic approaches
  • Experience working with individuals who display needs in the areas of autism, cognitive delays, EBD, mental health, and other related disabilities preferred

WAGES & BENEFITS:

  • Hours: 8-4pm
  • Schedule: Monday- Friday, following a traditional school calendar; Year-Round position, non-contract
  • Salary Range: $80k+ ; Final salary based on level of education + years of experience
