Position Specific Description

This job is responsible for managing and executing natural gas trading activities to optimize Florida Power Light Company's upstream gas transport positions, including Southeast Supply Header, Gulf South and Trunkline pipelines.

Job Duties:

  • Individuals apply a high level of competency in optimization strategies, pipeline rules, physical market knowledge, financial products, and regulatory policies

  • Monitor market conditions and conduct in-depth market research to understand supply and demand dynamics, price trends and factors affecting the natural gas market

  • Develop and implement optimization strategies

  • Identify additional upstream asset opportunities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with producers, end-users and counterparties

  • Work closely with procurement team to ensure physical gas supply reliability

  • Maintain detailed records and prepare reports on trading activities, P&L, and market analysis

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Job Overview

Employees in this role are recognized Subject Matter Experts (SME) for Real Time Desk activities in all ISO and Balancing Authority regions or Day Ahead activities in multiple regions. Employees complete the required work perfectly and convey knowledge and best practices to other team members. Employees in this role provide coaching to maintain a high-performance level for the Asset Ops team. Employees in this role work with Regional DA/RT Leads Managers, IT/SCADA team, and front office support to onboard new internal and external assets to ensure that tools and processes are ready and sufficient to perform the job functions. Employees independently resolve complex technical and market issues.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Completes RT or DA required work perfectly and conveys knowledge and best practices to other team members
  • Identifies, addresses, and implements improvements to Asset Ops tools and processes
  • Works with Regional DA/RT Managers to onboard new internal and external assets
  • Independently resolves complex technical and market issues
  • Covers other Asset Ops positions when requested to ensure business continuity
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

  • Bachelors or Equivalent Experience
