    Description

The next generation of personal devices will not be defined by incremental spec improvements. They will be defined by bold hardware bets that unlock entirely new customer experiences. Sensors that perceive context. Form factors that defy convention. Silicon and system architectures purpose-built for an AI-native world. We are pushing these boundaries, and we need a product leader who can see around corners and ship what's next.

As Principal Product Manager - Technical on the Personal Mobile Devices team, you will lead the vision, strategy, and end-to-end execution of one or more next-generation hardware products, defining device architectures, component strategies, and ID directions that will put transformative technology into the hands of millions of customers. This is not stewardship of an already defined roadmap. This is new-to-world device creation where every decision, every choice has to be rooted in delivering features that customers find useful, delightful and are willing to pay for. This is part vision, part curation and 100% responsibility for execution, shipping devices at scale and delighting our customers.

    Key job responsibilities

Own the end-to-end product roadmap from early concept through mass production, making disciplined trade-offs across compute, AI, graphics, performance, cost, power, and time-to-market.

Drive the technology scouting and selection process Evaluate emerging components (chipsets, displays, sensors, batteries, connectivity modules) and make high-conviction bets on the technologies that will define the next product generation.

Lead cross-functional execution across hardware engineering, industrial design, operations, supply chain, and software teams, ensuring tight integration from silicon to system to experience.

Navigate deep technical and business ambiguity - structuring complex trade-off decisions (e.g., BOM cost vs. capability vs. schedule vs. customer hero features) with analytical rigor and sound product judgment.

Champion the customer experience throughout the hardware development process, ensuring that every component choice, material selection, and design decision ladders up to a cohesive, delightful product that customers reach for every day.

Influence senior leadership with compelling product definition docs grounded in customer insight, competitive analysis, technology trends, and business-case rigor.

Raise the bar on hardware product craft across the organization, setting standards for meticulous attention to detail, technical depth, design excellence, and operational discipline.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
