About the Role

We are looking for a Principal Product Manager - Tech to join us in Seattle and be part of a transformation from disconnected talent tools into a unified, AI-native talent management platform.

You will define the product experience for Talent Evaluation at Amazon, through connecting multiple product domains, coordinating across engineering teams and multiple VP-level organizations, and owning the end-to-end customer experience for corporate Amazonians navigating their growth and development at Amazon.

This role goes beyond product execution - you will influence and advise Directors and VPs on product tradeoffs, invent new approaches to long-standing problems, and build the cross-organizational partnerships required to deliver a platform that serves Amazon"s entire corporate population.

Key job responsibilities

  • Define and drive the multi-year product vision and roadmap for ITDS"s unified talent evaluation solution
  • Own the end-to-end customer experience strategy, working backwards from what corporate Amazonians need to grow, develop, and be recognized
  • Design solutions that are flexible and configurable to meet the diverse needs of business line teams across Amazon
  • Lead product strategy for AI-native capabilities (e.g., AI-driven talent insights, generative AI for evaluations, intelligent workflow automation)
  • Coordinate across 6 engineering teams and 6 product domains to drive shared infrastructure adoption and a cohesive platform architecture
  • Represent ITDS in VP-level technical and business forums; influence resource allocation and organizational priorities
  • Stand up the mechanisms (reviews, planning processes, shared metrics) that make a multi-team org operate as one product team
  • Make high-stakes tradeoffs between near-term delivery commitments and long-term platform investment
  • Build and maintain cross-org partnerships with HR, corporate engineering, and business leadership stakeholders

A day in the life

You Are a Fit If You

  • Operate at the strategic level: you define the roadmap, not just execute one
  • See system-level patterns across multiple organizations, architectures, and customer journeys
  • Have the technical depth to engage meaningfully with engineering teams on architecture, integration design, and data modeling
  • Exercise sound judgment on high-ambiguity tradeoffs where the "right answer" isn"t obvious
  • Lead through influence without direct authority: aligning Directors, VPs, and peer PMs around a shared direction
  • Thrive in environments where you must create clarity from complexity and build consensus across competing priorities

About the team

The Integrated Talent Development Systems (ITDS) team, part of Amazon Talent Solutions (ATS), builds the systems Amazon uses to make its most consequential people decisions - evaluations, promotions, role transitions, and performance management for hundreds of thousands of corporate employees worldwide.

Our mission is to transform talent management at Amazon: empowering employees to focus on growth, invention, and customer impact while ensuring that talent decisions are made effectively, and efficiently while raising the quality of talent. Getting these decisions right is foundational to Amazon"s ability to operate and grow.

About the Company

A

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
