Job Description

Principal Project Manager — Commercial Construction

Location: South Shore / Greater Boston, Massachusetts

Compensation: Up to $160,000 base salary, plus bonus and benefits

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

Picture your week beginning with a preconstruction huddle, moving into an Owner-Architect-Contractor meeting, and closing with a walk-through alongside your superintendent to confirm the next milestone is locked in. You’ll be the point person for complex commercial builds across the South Shore and Greater Boston—owning the full project lifecycle and shaping outcomes for clients who return year after year.

You’ll join a well-established commercial general contractor with a collaborative, relationship-driven culture, a steady pipeline of work, and approachable leadership. If you thrive on accountability, team play, and building lasting client partnerships, this is your seat at the table.

What You’ll Lead

  • Full project ownership from preconstruction planning through turnover and closeout
  • Creation and management of budgets, schedules, forecasts, and detailed cost reporting
  • Facilitation of kickoff meetings, routine progress updates, and internal coordination sessions
  • Daily coordination with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams
  • Review of drawings/specifications; administration of contracts, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Subcontractor buyout—bid, scope, negotiate, award—and performance management
  • Tracking costs, commitments, billing, and overall financial health of each project
  • Early risk identification and implementation of mitigation strategies to protect budget and schedule
  • Close partnership with superintendents to support field operations and keep momentum high
  • Adherence to contract requirements, safety expectations, and company procedures
  • Cultivation of client relationships to drive repeat business
  • Mentorship of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and emerging team members
  • Closeout leadership: punch-list completion, documentation, and final financial reconciliation

What You Bring

  • ~8+ years of commercial construction project management experience
  • Background with a commercial GC or construction management firm
  • Track record of delivering projects from precon through closeout
  • Experience in commercial interiors, tenant improvements, renovations, retail, restaurant, office, or ground-up work (preferred)
  • Fluency in construction documents, contracts, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and communicate effectively with clients, subs, and internal teams
  • Demonstrated leadership, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with construction management and scheduling software
  • Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered

What’s In It for You

  • Base salary up to $160,000, commensurate with experience
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Consistent backlog of commercial projects
  • Direct access to company leadership
  • Meaningful autonomy and end-to-end project ownership
  • Collaborative, team-first environment
  • Long-term professional growth opportunities
  • Join a respected contractor with strong repeat-client relationships
