As a Principal Scientist you must demonstrate a broad and in-depth knowledge of technologies in recombinant protein production and purification to evaluate the developability of various biologics modalities covered by Novartis Biomedical Research and Development units, ranging from traditional antibodies to advanced biologics formats and mixed modalities, ensuring quality of material delivered and eventually enabling lead candidate selection. You will lead a team of associates where you will be responsible for a continuously strong culture of team spirit and integrity, as well as providing development opportunities for associates on different levels.     About the Role

    Key responsibilities: Coordinate and execute downstream processing of recombinantly expressed proteins (e.g. monoclonal antibodies, multispecific antibodies and other therapeutic proteins) from suspension CHO culture from small to large scale (up to 200L).Act as senior production expert and Production lead in project teams ensuring optimal project support and high quality for all deliverables.Drive the therapeutic protein production strategy in R&D Menge, working globally in a matrix organization to support a diverse biologics pipeline transitioning into clinical development. Drive and lead technology projects for protein purification and conjugation in close collaboration with related line functions; incorporate latest technologies and knowledge into research activities and ongoing projects.  Foster streamlined processes and optimally use of capacities as well as continued innovation, incorporating latest technologies and knowledge. Effectively manage resources, project activities, timelines, maintain a strong customer focus and set respective objectives. Provide leadership and clear guidance to the team, optimally leveraging the expertise and experience of individuals. Drive a culture of collaboration, integrity, and team development, and ensure a safe, empowering, and inspiring working environment. Minimum Requirements - What you will bring to the role: PhDin biochemistry, chemistry, biotechnology or a related field with at least 2 years experience in pharmaceutical industry; or MSc degree with at least 5 years experience in pharmaceutical industry. Strong theroretical and practical background in Downstream Processing of monoclonal and multispecific antibodies, including liquid chromatography on Aekta systems, filtration and centrifugation technologies. Proven experience in successfully prioritizing and keeping complex project timelines, excellent organizational skills with the ability to run multiple projects in parallel. Strong experience in experimental design, data analysis workflows and report generation. Distinguished team spirit and scientific drive. High flexibility combined with excellent organizational and communication skills.Fluency in English (oral/written).
