As a Principal Software Engineer you will be responsible for developing, designing, and implementing NFI’s Digital Twin. You will serve as an advocate for engineering decisions related to the Digital Twin.
While interfacing with other business leaders, you will lead initiatives involving the development of new Digital Twin products and services. You will work directly with IT, as well as other teams supporting Transportation Management's various platforms and systems. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Solutions Engineering.
Lead maintenance of the Digital Twin and related technologies.
Lead the interoperability of the Digital Twin and related data
Report on team/project performance KPIs
Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutions
Create and update quarterly roadmaps to review with internal and customer leadership
Organize and participate in project meetings that are held to discuss project scope, requirements, design, planning, and status.
Apply analysis, design, coding, testing, upgrades, and production control best practices in a team environment towards the timely development and support of application software.
Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback
Ensure software is updated with latest features
Write well-designed, testable code
Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Related Engineering.
7+ years experience working in a corporate engineering or software development environment
Must have well-rounded experience planning and implementing engineering, analytics, and relationship development.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
An exceptional ability to work autonomously.
The ability to hit the ground running in a very busy atmosphere
Strong Experience with Python and SQL, Proficiency in software engineering tools
Experience with test-driven development
Ability to conduct software reviews and status updates with leadership
Ability to run project meetings (requirements & design)
Preferred Requirements:
10+ years experience working in a corporate engineering or Supply Chain consulting environment
Sound knowledge of Supply Chain Engineering, Software Engineering, Data and Platforms Engineering.
Experience with Supply Chain modeling platforms like Supply Chain Guru, Llama.ai, NextMV, Gains, Sophus, Starboard, Optilogic, or TMOD.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Experience with Go/Golang
Experience with ML Algorithms, Optimization Algorithms, and Building AI Native Apps / MCP
We are excited to share that the base salary range for this position is $106,486.00 - $141,981.00. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, targeted at 10%. NFI takes into consideration applicants' qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location when determining a starting rate of pay.
