Leidos is seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to join our DoD Enterprise IT Modernization (DEIM) team supporting a large-scale digital modernization program critical to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and DoD Fourth Estate agencies. The Principal Solutions Architect works closely with Leidos and Government technical leadership to drive innovation, growth, and efficiency across the portfolio.

Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance required. U.S. Citizen required.

100% remote work - Candidates must be based in the DMV area and capable of commuting to our Reston, VA headquarters on an as-needed basis for key meetings and events

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the DEIM Chief Engineer in identifying service gaps and improvement areas, and drive continual innovation to evolve DoDNet against current and future requirements.

  • Identify and assess opportunities to improve DEIM, then lead the analysis of alternatives and proof-of-concept development that establishes dedicated projects to implement approved improvements. Target areas include:

  • Standardizing, automating, and streamlining site surveys and migrations so they are repeatable, flexible, and efficient.

  • Expanding automation to reduce staffing demand, lower the risk of human error, and free staff for higher-complexity work.

  • Establishing open design principles that avoid vendor lock-in and minimize custom configuration.

  • Incorporating emerging technologies that strengthen cybersecurity, reduce total cost, and improve the end-user experience.

  • Partner with project teams to keep execution aligned to the intent of each approved improvement.

  • Conduct initial feasibility assessments of candidate initiatives, followed by detailed analysis of alternatives.

  • Document and present analysis results to Leidos and Government stakeholders through the engineering review boards.

  • Oversee proofs of concept, narrowly scoped efforts of three months or less that deliver demonstrable, measurable insight into a candidate improvement.

  • Draft detailed project plans covering technical approach, cost, schedule, and risk for full implementation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree and 12+ years of relevant experience in enterprise infrastructure and solutions architecture, including cloud and on-premise virtualized environments. Specific experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree

  • 8+ years architecting enterprise workloads on AWS or Azure, including architecture, deployment, and optimization of enterprise workloads.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance required.

  • Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security+ ce or equivalent) required at time of hire.

  • Experience designing secure, scalable, and resilient on-premise and cloud-based virtualized infrastructures.

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Design secure, scalable, and resilient on-premise and cloud-based virtualized infrastructures.

  • Lead the planning and execution of enterprise application and infrastructure migrations, including on-premise to cloud transitions.

  • Automate infrastructure and operational tasks with Python or PowerShell in a production environment.

  • Architect and manage enterprise identity and directory services at scale, including Entra ID and LDAP.

  • Work across enterprise network infrastructure, including Cisco and Aruba technologies, with network access control using Cisco ISE or Aruba ClearPass.

  • Produce architecture artifacts and present designs to both executive leadership and technical review boards.

  • Drive analysis of alternatives to evaluate and recommend technologies against performance, scalability, security, and cost criteria.

  • Operate in a DevSecOps environment of comparable scale and complexity.

  • Communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, across all levels of an organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining IT infrastructures for DISA or other DoD organizations.

  • Hands-on experience with Infoblox DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM).

  • DoD 8570 IASAE Level II or higher certification.

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and modern automation tooling in a regulated environment.
