The Principal Beaker CP role is a senior technical leadership position responsible for driving the end-to-end design, build, integration, and overall success of the Epic Beaker Clinical Pathology (CP) implementation within KPHC. This individual serves as the primary technical authority bridging Beaker CP across related third-party systems and other KPHC modules, ensuring seamless workflow integration across clinical and operational systems. They partner closely with the Principal Product Manager for the program to define and deliver cohesive, enterprise-aligned solutions. The role also plays a critical part in establishing internal support capabilities alongside external consultants, while mitigating program risk tied to KPWA (initial focus, expanding to KP Enterprise) Beaker CP delivery and broader instance consolidation efforts. Job Summary: In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is responsible for serving as a lead expert in configuring complex system builds, testing, validation, and ongoing production support of assigned applications. This position will possess clinical or IT systems knowledge and experience to develop and support safe and high quality care using the electronic health record. This position will provide consultation on the in depth and precise investigation and documentation of future- state operational specifications and application functionality by leading the analysis of application capabilities, workflows, data collection, report details, and other clinical and/or technical issues associated with Epic software. This position is also responsible for designing, developing, and documenting the internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with Epic applications. Some of the unique challenges this position will face include analyzing clinical and business operations and investigating user preferences; prioritizing & implementing requested system changes & updates; serving as a liaison between end users, third parties, and Epic implementation staff. This position also drives the development and documentation of internal procedures, the preparation of specifications for system enhancements, and the analysis and testing of new release functionality. 3-5 Essential Responsibilities: Drives the execution of multiple work streams by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and updating new procedures and policies; gaining cross-functional support for objectives and priorities; translating business strategy into actionable business requirements; obtaining and distributing resources; setting standards and measuring progress; removing obstacles that impact performance; guiding performance and developing contingency plans accordingly; solving highly complex issues; and influencing the completion of project tasks by others. Collaborates with technical and project team leaders to resolve complex system problems and application-specific issues, and provides consultation on the design and architecture of technology environments across the enterprise. Escalates unresolved or critical issues, risks or problems to system engineers and management. Plans and performs complex system configuration by performing proactive and predictive analysis of environment configurations, and resolving system and network integration issues. Plans the maintenance, modification, and documentation of applications; recommending system or integration changes based on the cost/benefit of available solutions. Creates complex documentation of new and existing system configuration and procedural information, and supports others in ensuring system configurations documentation is complete and accurate. Leads hardware and software changes for multiple IT production environments by performing impact analyses of system changes. Recommends and executes complex performance tuning and optimization activities. Evaluates existing technical resources to determine coverage of the necessary skills and knowledge required to meet ongoing business demands.
