Position Summary:

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Principal System Engineer providing support to the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center-Ground Base Air Defense Sensor division (AFLCMC/ESG).

 

The ESG Division manages efforts focused on developing, acquiring, fielding and sustaining programs that support worldwide communications, Battle Management, Command & Control, Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C2ISR), Air/Ground Surveillance, Time Critical Targeting, Combat Identification, Radar Imagery, Integrated Air/Missile Defense, and Mobile/Fixed C2ISR Performance, Exploitation & Dissemination Facilities.

 
This is a full-time position located at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Massachusetts.

Responsibilities:

Duties include, but not limited to

  • Provide systems engineering support across acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, deployment, and operational oversight activities
  • Conduct program and technical reviews to evaluate engineering approaches, system performance, technical baselines, risks, and alternative solutions
  • Support systems engineering processes, trade studies, and system-level testing to ensure performance requirements are achieved in accordance with approved specifications
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, engineering analyses, management reports, and technical presentations
  • Support program risk management activities in compliance with Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model (SEAM) processes
  • Provide proposal analysis support to evaluate technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost effectiveness of proposed systems and approaches
  • Review and analyze system concepts, user requirements, and requirements baseline documentation
  • Support concepts and requirements analysis activities including ICDs, CDDs, CPDs, AoAs, CONOPs, Technology Development Strategies, FCAs, and PCAs
  • Support software development and integration efforts in coordination with Government and prime contractors
  • Work with Government and contractor personnel to review system and subsystem design, analysis, and testing activities
  • Apply advanced systems engineering principles, concepts, standards, and methods to support program objectives, cost, schedule, and performance requirements
  • Support development and implementation of improved systems engineering processes, techniques, and procedures
  • Oversee engineering efforts and acquisition activities supporting the WAS, 3DELRR, and NCRIADS programs
  • Support multiple teams simultaneously in a high-visibility environment
Qualifications:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance: Must have an Active Secret Clearance

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related professional engineering discipline and 20 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 10 of which must be in the DoD

 

Technical Skills

  • Experience supporting USAF command and control reporting systems, tactical radar, shelter and radome systems, aircraft trainer pods, radios and communication systems, EW systems, or threat emitters
  • Understanding of cloud-based systems, including management of cost and performance
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and DevOps principles
  • Understanding of Agile software development best practices including Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile sprint planning
  • Ability to guide development efforts using Agile standards and engineering best practices

Interpersonal Skills

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Strong leadership and team coordination abilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a high-visibility environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Outgoing personality with the ability to lead multiple teams simultaneously
  • Polished professional presence; prior military leadership experience preferred
