    Principal Test Systems Technical Lead Engineer

    Location: Tucson, AZ
    Clearance: Active Secret clearance required

    Role Summary

    Seeking a Principal Test Systems Technical Lead Engineer to support test systems engineering efforts in a lab, development, and production environment.

    This role leads technical execution for weapon test systems, working closely with test system designers, IPT leads, program leadership, and multi-discipline engineering teams. The position supports requirements definition, test equipment design, integration, deployment, system-level test setup, and delivery of test environments used for tactical software development, testing, and missile delivery support.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead technical execution for test systems engineering programs.

    • Work directly with Program Managers and IPTLs to define milestones, priorities, and execution plans.

    • Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams across hardware, software, test, and integration functions.

    • Partner with weapon test system designers to understand requirements and develop technical solutions.

    • Support design, development, integration, deployment, and maintenance of test equipment.

    • Define program requirements within a multi-disciplinary engineering team.

    • Delegate engineering tasking and provide technical direction to team members.

    • Track scope, cost, schedule, risks, and technical execution status.

    • Develop and support presentations for gate reviews and stakeholder reviews.

    • Attend Failure Review Boards and Change Control Boards as needed.

    • Review and approve system changes through formal change control processes.

    • Report team status, metrics, risks, and progress to stakeholders.

    • Provide training and technical guidance as needed.

    • Support occasional travel for test environment development and equipment delivery.

    Required Qualifications

    • 10+ years of relevant engineering, test systems, test equipment, or technical leadership experience.

    • Active and transferable Secret clearance required.

    • Experience with Test Systems Engineering or equivalent engineering environments.

    • Experience supporting hardware and test software development, integration, verification, validation, and maintenance.

    • Experience in production, manufacturing, product qualification, lab, or development test environments.

    • Experience with design, development, or integration of test equipment.

    • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

    • Experience coordinating with Program Managers, IPTLs, technical teams, and customer/stakeholder groups.

    • Strong understanding of scope, cost, schedule, and technical execution.

    • Ability to communicate technical status, risks, and execution plans clearly.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supporting weapon systems, missile systems, tactical software test environments, or defense test equipment.

    • Experience with system-level test setup and operation across development and production environments.

    • Experience leading test equipment integration, deployment, and delivery activities.

    • Experience supporting gate reviews, FRBs, CCBs, and formal engineering review processes.

    • Experience defining/delegating tasking across multi-discipline teams.

    • Strong technical leadership background in lab, production, or qualification test environments.

    • Familiarity with test equipment lifecycle from requirements through deployment and sustainment.
