As a Principal Technical Program Manager on the core team, you will define and frame ambiguous, undefined problem spaces across Prime Video"s AI landscape , driving clarity where business objectives and technical strategy have not yet been articulated. You may not know what the problem is before starting. You will own the end-to-end strategy, execution, and launch of transformation programs that span multiple organizations across Prime Video, Amazon Entertainment, and adjacent Amazon businesses. You will influence architectural decisions and resource allocation at the VP+ level, serving as a strategic advisor who shapes investment decisions and multi-year technology roadmaps.

You will identify technical risks and opportunities across a complex architecture portfolio, influencing engineering best practices and long-term technical direction. You will create scalable mechanisms and frameworks that drive impact across the organization, addressing architectural and process challenges. You will serve as an escalation point for critical cross-organizational technical decisions and help align teams toward coherent technology strategies.

You will be advising senior leaders on strategy, trade-offs, and prioritization. This role provides you the opportunity to think big in terms of strategy as well as significantly impact the bottom line across multiple organizations.

Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering customers a vast collection of premium programming in one app available across thousands of devices. Prime members can customize their viewing experience and find their favorite movies, series, documentaries, and live sports - including Amazon MGM Studios-produced series and movies; licensed fan favorites; and programming from Prime Video add-on subscriptions such as Apple TV+, Max, Crunchyroll and MGM+. All customers, regardless of whether they have a Prime membership or not, can rent or buy titles via the Prime Video Store, and can enjoy even more content for free with ads.

Key job responsibilities

  • Consistently meet challenging deadlines and deliver high-quality solutions that enable the Prime Video platform to scale to meet growing customer demand.
  • Strong knowledge of current and emerging AI technologies and technology-driven workflows, with the ability to evaluate new capabilities, identify opportunities for innovation, and guide cross-functional teams through responsible technology adoption and integration.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to both traditional systems and automation deployments, including model drift, data quality, and ethical considerations, communicating regularly with stakeholders on project status and issues.
  • Demonstrate deep technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and large-scale data processing, with familiarity in modern machine learning technologies and their practical applications.
  • Partner closely with engineering, product, and business leaders to align initiatives with high-level objectives and achieve measurable improvements in efficiency or customer experience.
  • Communicate ideas effectively to a wide range of audiences, foster constructive dialogue, and lead the resolution of contentious technical issues.

As a Principal Technical Program Manager, your day is filled with leading high-impact, cross-organizational strategic initiatives.

  • Driving clarity in ambiguous problem spaces and defining strategy where none exists.
  • Advising Leadership/stakeholders on trade-offs, risks, and strategic direction.
  • Creating and optimizing cross-org structures and mechanisms that enable teams to move faster.
  • Serving as the escalation point for critical technical decisions spanning multiple organizations.
  • Force multiplying by building frameworks, mechanisms, and best practices that scale beyond your direct programs.
  • Thinking big and working with senior leadership, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to define vision, strategy, and requirements that span organizational boundaries.

About the team

The core TPM team is responsible for running large initiatives across Prime Video to improve existing or build brand new experiences to help Amazon customers discover great content and get personalized recommendations on our apps on a verity of surfaces (e.g. Web, iOS/Android, FireTV, Living Room devices).
