NORTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Description:
Principal's Secretary, Norton. This is a 12-month position with a 35 hour work week. Duties include:
- Provides support to Principal
- Maintains multiple calendars
- Schedules all building-level meetings throughout the school year
- Manages the school budget
- Processes purchase orders
- Responsible for ordering supplies
- Manages the student activity account
- Processes student registrations and withdrawals
- Responsible for state reporting
- Maintains electronic and paper student records
- Assists with building schedules
- Ensures substitute coverage
- Responsible for verifying payroll
- Schedules all safety drills
- Processes all building use requests from outside organizations
- Works closely with various departments including payroll, transportation, maintenance and PTA
- Responsible for staff and parent communication
- Coordinates Promotion & other school events
- Coordinates new student orientations
- Assists in field trip coordination and transportation
- Other administrative and office duties as assigned by the Principal
- oversees office operations, plans and organizes work according to office standard procedures
- Establishes priorities within work assignment
- Answers phones, providing information and assistance to parents, staff members and others as needed or refers callers to appropriate office or staff person
- Prepares and independently composes letters, reports and various other documents
- Maintains school budget using Tyler ERP and handles purchasing for all divisions

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and at least 2 years of general office experience.
- The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have a good attendance record, and be able to work independently
- Able to follow multi-step directions and carry out the assigned tasks thoroughly and with accuracy
- Manage long-term projects
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to operate multiple web-based applications
- Must be able to relate positively to parents, staff members, students, and the general public at all times, being able to maintain decorum in a fast-paced and stressful environment
- A background in accounting is beneficial
- Knowledge of Google Applications, PowerSchool, Munis, Frontline is preferred
Supervised By:
Receives task direction from the School Principal and/or his/her designee.
Schedule: Full time, 12 month/Grade 4 position. Monday - Friday.
Salary:
In accordance with the Agreement Between Cheshire Board of Education and the Cheshire Educational Secretaries and Technicians United. Starting Salary $30.69 (Grade 4, Step 1).
