Our client, a well-established manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced Printing & Converting Supervisor to lead production operations within their Printing, Pre-Press, and Converting departments. This leadership role is responsible for driving productivity, ensuring schedule attainment, maintaining safety compliance, and developing a high-performing production team in a fast-paced industrial environment.

The ideal candidate will bring strong supervisory experience, a manufacturing background, and the ability to lead teams while balancing production goals, quality standards, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Production Leadership

  • Supervise and direct shift operators within the Printing, Pre-Press, and Converting departments.
  • Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining productivity, quality, and waste reduction targets.
  • Monitor daily operations and make adjustments as needed to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate resources and workflow to meet customer and business requirements.

Employee Supervision & Development

  • Motivate, coach, mentor, and develop production employees.
  • Address performance, attendance, and workplace issues in accordance with the applicable Labor Agreement and company policies.
  • Administer corrective actions and disciplinary measures when appropriate.
  • Approve employee vacation requests, overtime assignments, and leaves of absence.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on continuous improvement.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and facilitate monthly safety meetings.
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
  • Assist with accident investigations, root cause analysis, and related documentation.
  • Ensure employees consistently utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience required.
  • Industrial or manufacturing leadership experience required.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree or Engineering degree preferred.
  • Flexographic printing knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Experience within printing, converting, packaging, or related manufacturing operations preferred.
  • Understanding of production scheduling, process improvement, and waste reduction initiatives.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with light industrial equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to interpret production requirements and drive operational performance.
  • Effective leadership skills with a hands-on management style.

Work Environment

  • Industrial/manufacturing production environment.
  • Required to wear appropriate PPE at all times while on the production floor.
  • Frequent standing and walking for extended periods throughout the facility.
  • May occasionally lift or move light industrial equipment and materials.
  • Regular exposure to manufacturing machinery, production equipment, noise, and typical plant-floor conditions.
