A lower middle-market private capital firm (representative of firms within our network) may seek a highly analytical Private Capital Junior Associate to support investment professionals across deal evaluation, financial modeling, diligence, and portfolio monitoring.
This role is designed for candidates at the start of their private markets careers, offering hands-on exposure to live transactions, close interaction with senior investors, and meaningful responsibility within a lean investment team.
Build and maintain operating and transaction models, including 3-statement models, DCFs, and LBOs (where applicable)
Analyze investment returns, capital structures, leverage, and downside scenarios
Perform valuation analyses using comparable companies, precedent transactions, and intrinsic methods
Support screening and underwriting of new private capital opportunities
Assist with diligence across financial, commercial, operational, and legal workstreams
Analyze historical and projected financials, KPIs, and unit economics
Conduct industry, market, and competitive research to support investment theses
Help organize and synthesize diligence findings into clear analytical outputs
Prepare investment memos, exhibits, and presentation materials
Summarize diligence insights, risks, and value-creation opportunities
Support internal discussions leading to investment decisions
Assist transaction processes from initial evaluation through execution
Support ongoing portfolio company performance tracking
Assist with KPI dashboards, reporting, and variance analysis
Contribute to analysis for add-on investments, refinancings, and exit planning
Provide ad hoc analytical support related to portfolio strategy
Early exposure to private capital investing and decision-making
Hands-on involvement in live deals and portfolio analysis
Interaction with management teams, founders, and senior investors
Accelerated learning across valuation, modeling, and private market dynamics

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
Strong Excel skills and ability to build or review financial models
Foundational understanding of accounting, corporate finance, and valuation
Prior internships or entry-level experience in investment banking, private equity, private credit, consulting, or corporate finance is beneficial
Demonstrated interest in private markets, investing, and financial analysis
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
