The Skirball Cultural Center seeks a high-energy, relationship-driven Social Events Sales Specialist to lead our life-cycle event segment. This role is dedicated to capturing the "milestone" market—weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, anniversaries, and high-end celebrations. You will be responsible for driving a minimum of $350,000 in new social business annually while personally guiding families through the emotional and logistical journey of their most important days. Reporting to the Director of Private Event Sales, you will act as a premier ambassador for the Skirball, blending sales grit with the high-touch "concierge" service required for luxury social clients.
Compensation: $75,000–$87,000 (Salary; no commission)Status: Full-time, ExemptSchedule: Six (6) days a week operation; scheduled days/times vary based on event calendar. Weekend and evening availability is required.
Key Responsibilities
Social Revenue Generation: Achieve an annual new business target of $350,000 by proactively mining the social market, converting high-intent inquiries, and networking with wedding planners and industry influencers.
Life-Cycle Event Management: Independently manage the end-to-end journey for 50+ social events annually. You are the primary visionary and point of contact from the first tour to the moment the last guest departs.
Couture Proposals: Create emotive, visually-driven event proposals and customized pricing scenarios that reflect the unique "dream" of each family while maximizing venue revenue.
The "Skirball Experience": Conduct high-impact site tours that sell the "feeling" of the space, expertly handling the nuances of multi-generational decision-makers (parents, couples, and planners).
Administrative Precision: Maintain 100% accuracy in the Momentus/Ungerboeck CRM, managing intricate floor plans via Social Tables and ensuring all contracts and deposits are flawlessly tracked.
On-Site Execution & Synergy: Partner closely with catering, décor, and AV teams to ensure the transition from "sales" to "celebration" is seamless and exceeds client expectations.
Qualifications
Experience: 4–7 years of proven success in social hospitality sales (weddings/milestone events), with a documented track record of hitting high-volume revenue goals in a premium venue or hotel setting.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Momentus/Ungerboeck (highly preferred) and Social Tables. Must be adept at Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Communication & Emotional Intelligence: Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to navigate the emotional complexities of social planning; must be comfortable influencing high-net-worth individuals.
Logistics & Detail: Ability to manage a high-volume pipeline with obsessive attention to detail; data entry speed of at least 60 WPM.
Requirements: Valid driver's license and the flexibility to work a schedule dictated by the "social season" (heavy weekends and evenings).
