The Immanuel Church is a church in Northern Kentucky with several ministries. As a faculty member of the Immanuel School of 
Music, the responsibility of each instructor is to provide the highest quality of instruction in their discipline as well as providing 
a loving and caring environment for each student and their family. Immanuel is a place where music and fine arts are highly 
valued and appreciated. The Immanuel Church believes that music is one of the greatest gifts to humanity.
 
Immanuel School of Music is currently looking for a Private Teacher.
 
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teach Private Lessons:
a. Set room up for private instruction/ Clean up after teaching.
b. Manage personal teaching schedule.
c. Have a clear written teaching curriculum/method.
d. Teach proper playing position and posture.
e. Teach scales/arpeggios at all levels.
f. Teach all students how to read music.
g. Supplement instruction with etudes and other technique building methods.
h. Encourage every student throughout their musical journey.

2. Communication:
a. Email parents about schedule and student needs.
b. Maintain healthy parental communication within 24 hours.
c. Schedule rooms for teaching through the ISM Schedule Manager. All requests need to 
be submitted with a 48-hour window before the request date.
d. Submit teaching hours to the ISM office manager weekly by each Saturday at 10 pm.
e. Dialog with ISM leadership team about any issue or concerns.
f. Respond to ISM leadership team within 24 hours.

3. Performance Opportunities:
a. Studio recitals are strongly encouraged. Two (2) per academic year
b. Prepare students for a healthy and positive performance experience.
c. Advice students with appropriate repertoire.
d. Submit all programs to the ISM director five (5) days before each recital.
e. Encourage students to participate in ISM ensembles.
f. Prepare students for a healthy and positive audition experience.
g. Recommend one student annually for the Encore Recital.
h. Encourage students to participate in other community opportunities.

4. Other Duties:
a. Keep accurate written records of all lessons taught for each student through the ISM 
Records Document.
b. Be on time with consistent attendance.
c. Help assist and promote the Child Protection Policy.
d. Represent the ISM and Immanuel Church to your highest standard.

SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Develop students/people with active and creative minds, a sense of understanding and 
compassion for others. We stress the total development of each person: spiritual, moral, 
intellectual, social, emotional, and physical.
2. By developing these qualities, the ISM students will become solid citizens for our future 
community and families at Immanuel.

COMPETENCIES AND TRAITS:
1. Must be a team player and able to work positively and constructively with staff, lay leaders, and 
volunteers.
2. Must possess, and continually develop, strong interpersonal skills including oral and written 
communications.
3. Must be a person who is a self-starter and strategic thinker, able to multi-task and work 
independently.
4. Must demonstrate emotional maturity, trustworthiness, and honesty.
5. Must interact with others with kindness, congeniality, integrity, and compassion.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
1. College performance degree in primary instrument or college music education degree.
2. Five (5) years of performance in a professional organization.
3. Child Protection Policy Trained (Darkness to Light)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
2. Walk, bend, twist.
3. Climb up and down stairs, if possible
4. Finger and hand dexterity sufficient to operate instrument and equipment.
5. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close, distance, color and peripheral vision; 
depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
6. Transportation to & from work locations

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. All work is completed in person generally at the Central Campus/ Boone Co. Campus.
2. Days of hours of work are generally afternoon/evening hours Monday through Friday with 
occasional weekends as needed.

This campus functions under the governance of the Immanuel Church. The church is an established entity 
operating as a whole and a permanent part of the Immanuel Church. The church maintains pre-determined alignment 
characteristics that uphold the Immanuel Church mission, (Make Disciples, Share Faith, and Serve Others), while 
also containing some contextualized characteristics to allow it to best reach its targeted local community.
