Position Summary:
The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) provides patients with therapeutic and self-care activities designed to improve the patients abilities in daily life skills. The OTA provides these rehabilitative services to patients in a home health care environment and works under the direction of an Occupational Therapist.

Essential Duties:
• Communicates Clients status, changes in condition, changes in care plan and needs to family members, staff and other professional • Maintains regular, predictable, consistent attendance and is flexible to meet the needs of the department • Performs all occupational therapy procedures planned and delegated as prescribed by the provider in the clients place of residence as instructed and supervised by the qualified occupational therapist • Assists clients to and from treatment or training areas and instructs client in pushing wheelchair, supporting or lifting and positioning in and out of bed • May use equipment and devices to assist clients • Assists client with slings, splints and self-help devices to obtain physical independence • Observes client for signs of distress and adjusts activities accordingly • Maintains work areas, i.e., cleaning, transporting, storing and inspecting materials and supplies • Maintains accurate clinical records, keeping track of goals and progress of clients • Abides by all regulations, policies, procedures and standard • Teaches clients how to properly use exercise techniques • Performs other duties as assigned
Position Requirements & Competencies:
Must be willing to travel within local geographic area
Certified as an occupational therapy assistant by AOTA, American Occupational Therapy Association
Complies and maintain current CPR certification
1 year of occupational therapy assistant experience (preferred)
Must meet minimum health and safety requirements for healthcare workers
Possess knowledge of principles and practice of occupational therapy
Must demonstrate ability to exercise independent judgment with limited supervision
Must be comfortable working in a home health care setting within a clients residence
