PRN Inpatient Neurologist (MD/DO) – Stroke Focus

Location: Prince William Medical Center, 8700 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA
Position Overview:
UVA Health is seeking a PRN Inpatient Neurologist (MD/DO) to support and expand our growing inpatient neurology and stroke services within UVA Community Health. This role offers flexibility while contributing to high-quality, patient-centered neurological care across multiple hospital settings.
Practice Highlights:
- Hospital-based inpatient neurology role

- Primary site: Prince William Medical Center

- Additional coverage at Haymarket Medical Center (on-site)

- Remote support for Culpeper Medical Center

- Collaborative care with dedicated Neuro/Stroke Nursing Team and EEG Technicians

- EPIC electronic medical record system

- Closed ICU model

- Strong administrative and operational support
Schedule & Coverage:
- PRN (as-needed) position
-
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

- Weekend coverage required
-
- No routine overnight call
- Exception: rare emergent EEG read after hours
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide inpatient neurological care with a focus on stroke and cerebrovascular disease

- Evaluate and manage patients requiring neurocritical care

- Respond to in-house neurological emergencies

- Perform consultations within scope of practice

- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives

- Deliver care in compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards
Clinical Volume & Scope:
- Average ~2–3 patient encounters per shift

- Focus on acute neurological and stroke-related cases
-
- No outpatient or clinic responsibilities
Technology & Resources:
- EEG interpretation capabilities

- Advanced imaging and stroke resources:
- CT / CTA
- MRI
- TPA administration
- Fully integrated EPIC EMR
Qualifications:
Required:
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school

- Completion of an accredited neurology residency program

- Board certified or board eligible in Neurology

- Active Virginia medical license (or eligibility)

- Current DEA license
Preferred:
- Stroke or vascular neurology training (welcomed but not required)
