MAHEC is now accepting applications for PRN Pharmacy Technicians to support pharmacy coverage needs at all Asheville Community Pharmacy locations.

Pharmacy Technicians work collaboratively as an active team member of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care across the continuum. In this role, the goals include providing an excellent patient experience, high-quality outcomes, and improved productivity for the team.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates competence in managing various pharmacy workflows and systems including dispensing, pharmacy information systems, and inventory management.
  • Maintains a system for medication storage and security
  • Manages medication recalls and backorders
  • Connects patients to medication assistance resources which includes management of patient assistance program applications through pharmaceutical manufacturers
  • Collaborates with the prior authorizations team
  • Assists pharmacists and other clinicians with medication histories as requested
  • Performs medication refills using a standardized protocol
  • Support learners in the pharmacy department

Specified Skills:

  • COMPUTER: Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications required.
  • FOREIGN LANGUAGE: Spanish speaking skills preferred.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Light - Moderate energy level: Lift and carry 25 - 35 lbs, Push/Pull 50 - 100 lbs (empty bed, stretcher, etc.)

Education and Experience:

Pharmacy Technician I

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a pharmacy technician training program, Experience in a pharmacy or clinical setting, Knowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic health record and/or pharmacy dispensing software preferred

Pharmacy Technician II

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Meets all minimum qualifications for Pharmacy Technician I, Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license, One year of pharmacy or clinical experience
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a pharmacy technician training program

Pharmacy Technician III

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Meets all minimum qualifications for Pharmacy Technician II, Two years of pharmacy or clinical experience, Advanced skillset in one of the following: Clinical care, Retail operations
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a pharmacy technician training program

Position Compensation:

  • Pharmacy Tech I: $20.63/hour
  • Pharmacy Tech II: $22.79/hour
  • Pharmacy Tech III: $24.90/hour

Schedule:

  • Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Typical business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader.
