Essential Duties:
- Ability to provide multi-dimensional care for patients in the PACU area.
- Assesses assigned area to ensure that all necessary supplies and emergency equipment is available and operational.
- Identifies and assesses areas of patient concern, answers questions within nursing scope.
- Recognizes and reports deviation in patient assessment appropriately to provider, charge nurse or administrator.
- Reviews and carries out surgeons/anesthesiologists orders as indicated.
- Initiates, intravenous therapy as ordered and performs CLIA waived testing as indicated (urine pregnancy test, HemaQue, and Finger stick glucose testing)
- Follows universal protocol for patient identification, consent signing, site marking, and time out process per RMG IVF/ Surgery Center Policy
- Observes patients recovery from anesthesia for a period of time determined as being consistent with the safety and welfare of the patient.
- Monitors patient vital signs per policy in Pre-op and PACU phase; is able to recognize a change in patient condition and notifies Anesthesiologist, Surgeon or Medical Director as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing - BSN preferred and Licensed in the State of New Jersey as a Registered Nurse
- BLS, required.
- Able to demonstrate communication skills which indicate ability to be successful at counseling, teaching, marketing and public relations.
- One year nursing experience is preferred, we will consider a new grad with the right attitude
- Preferred experience in Pre-Op/PACU, Critical Care or Emergency Nursing
