Haven Access Works is a dedicated provider of services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). We are seeking a passionate and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our interdisciplinary team. This role is crucial in developing and implementing effective communication strategies, with a strong emphasis on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems.


 

Position: PRN Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

 

  • Location: Delaware County, PA - Community-Based Setting

  • Employment Type: PRN

  • Target Population: Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)


 

Primary Responsibilities

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Comprehensive Assessment: Conducting thorough speech, language, and communication evaluations for individuals across the lifespan with various IDDs.

  • AAC Expertise: Performing specialized assessments for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)needs, including low-tech, mid-tech, and high-tech devices (e.g., dedicated devices, tablets running communication software).

  • Goal Development: Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans (ITPs) with measurable, functional goals focused on improving expressive and receptive communication skills.

  • Intervention: Providing direct, evidence-based therapy, specializing in facilitating communication via prescribed AAC devices.

  • Training & Collaboration: Training clients, families, caregivers, and direct support professionals (DSPs) on the effective use and maintenance of communication devices and strategies.

  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of evaluations, progress notes, and communication plans as per state and federal guidelines ([e.g., Medicaid, IEPs]).

  • Team Participation: Actively participating in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate holistic care and contribute communication-focused insights.


 

Qualifications

 

  • Education: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

  • Licensure: Current, unencumbered state license as a Speech-Language Pathologist in PA.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 1 year of experience working directly with the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) population (e.g., Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder).

    • Demonstrated, significant experience in evaluating, selecting, programming, and providing therapy with a variety of communication devices/AAC systems is required.

  • Skills: Strong clinical reasoning, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
