Position Summary

Eastridge High School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered New York State Certified Earth Science Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in Earth and Space Sciences, preparing students for the New York State Earth Science Regents Examination while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific literacy. Responsibilities include designing rigorous, inquiry-based lessons aligned with the New York State Science Learning Standards, incorporating laboratory and field-based investigations, analyzing scientific data, and differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners. The ideal candidate builds strong relationships with students, maintains high academic expectations, collaborates effectively within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and contributes positively to a safe, supportive school culture. Candidates must hold the appropriate New York State certification in Earth Science (7-12). Instruction & Curriculum

  • Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with district curriculum
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to actively engage students
  • Integrate technology and instructional resources effectively
  • Design and facilitate laboratory investigations and inquiry-based learning experiences that develop scientific reasoning and problem-solving skills

Assessment & Data

  • Design and implement formative and summative assessments
  • Analyze student data to inform instruction and improve outcomes
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families
  • Prepare students for success on the New York State Earth Science Regents Examination

Classroom Environment

  • Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom climate
  • Promote positive student behavior and social-emotional growth
  • Implement district-approved behavior and safety procedures
  • Maintain laboratory safety protocols and proper care of scientific equipment and materials

Collaboration & Communication

  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and department meetings
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
  • Collaborate with support staff, specialists, and administrators

Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records as required by district and state guidelines
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Comply with district policies, procedures, and contractual obligations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration

Terms of Employment

  • Salary, teaching schedule, and benefits in accordance with the EITA contract
  • Appointment subject to Board of Education approval

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district procedures, New York State regulations, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
