Position Summary
EIMS seeks a student-centered special educator with strong science/biology content knowledge to provide specially designed instruction in a Special Class setting. The teacher will serve as case manager for an assigned grade level and collaborate closely with a dedicated Special Class team (special education, general education, related service providers, support staff, and administrators) to deliver high-quality instruction aligned to IEP goals and New York State Learning Standards for Science (Biology).
Performance Responsibilities
The Teacher shall:
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with district curriculum
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to actively engage students
- Integrate technology and instructional resources effectively
Assessment & Data
- Design and implement formative and summative assessments
- Analyze student data to inform instruction and improve outcomes
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families
Classroom Environment
- Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom climate
- Promote positive student behavior and social-emotional growth
- Implement district-approved behavior and safety procedures
Collaboration & Communication
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), grade-level, or department meetings
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
- Collaborate with support staff, specialists, and administrators
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records as required by district and state guidelines
- Participate in professional development activities
- Comply with district policies, procedures, and contractual obligations
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration
Terms of Employment
- Salary, schedule, and benefits in accordance with the EITA contract
- Appointment subject to Board of Education approval
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district procedures, New York State regulations, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
