What to Expect
Lead all process engineering and/or sustaining activities for all parts in production; program, operate and troubleshoot a complete casting cell, must be well versed with all aspects of High-Pressure Die-Casting process.
What You'll Do
- Establish, set, and maintain process parameters for High Pressure Diecast Machines in production. Follow up on all equipment issues and ensure normal operation when back in production
- Program robots to establish optimized spray and extraction cycles
- Support process development of all new dies and manage all aspects of process development, optimization, monitoring and sustaining, as an individual contributor or leading a team of process technicians
- Collaborate with Tool & Die team to address all production issues related to Tooling, assist in systematic troubleshooting
- Establish best practices for die spray programming, extraction cycle, while prioritizing maximum yield and uptime. Lead cycle time optimization/reduction and die life improvement effort goals
- Actively participate and contribute to DFM process with Tesla product design and Tooling teams for new and existing parts
- Read simulation reports, understand metal flow and thermal behavior, and provide die design suggestions
- Create process documentation and work instructions as needed, using standard Tesla format. Create, update, track, and close work tickets as needed
- Attend MRB and downtime meeting, lead cross functional teams in making improvements. Apply lean principles and drive continuous improvement activities for dies and processes
- Obtain and review dimensional analysis; implement corrective actions to improve dimensional stability and capability
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineer, or equivalent experience
- 4 years' experience in High Pressure Die-casting for automotive industry. Experience in injection molding may be considered as an alternate with no casting experience
- 4 years' experience in high pressure diecasting process engineering
- Minimum 2 years' years or more experience with structural Aluminum components for automotive industry
- Minimum two years' experience in systematic troubleshooting of casting defects
- Minimum two years' experience in project management
- Basic proficiency in 3D modeling and flow simulation software
- Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing
- Strong project management skills

Expected Compensation
$68,400 - $135,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
