Our client in Columbus is looking to hire a process engineer to join their growing team! They are a world leading automotive supplier for steel and aluminum components, and they are one of the largest growing companies in Central Ohio.
The process engineer would be responsible for developing and optimizing machining processes, designing and implementing robust process flows, troubleshooting machining issues, and implementing continuous improvement processes.
Qualified candidates would have experience with high volume CNC metal manufacturing, G-code programming, the ability to read blue-prints, and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize machining processes for new and existing products (CNC turning, milling, drilling, grinding, etc.).
- Design and implement robust process flows, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Select and validate cutting tools, fixtures, and equipment to ensure repeatability and high performance.
- Conduct time studies, capability studies, and root cause analysis to improve process efficiency and reduce scrap.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) by collaborating with design, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturability.
- Evaluate and implement continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen).
- Troubleshoot machining issues and provide technical support to production teams.
- Work closely with suppliers and tool vendors for process validation and optimization.
- Monitor key process indicators (KPIs) and drive corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Industrial Engineering or equivalent field or 5+ years of relevant CNC Machining experience
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excell and Power Point
- GD&T standards preferred
- Hands-on experience with CNC machines (e.g., Emag, Okuma, Mazak, Kuka controllers).
- Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Experience with CAD/CAM recommended
- CNC knowledge (ISO programming required)
- SPS basic knowledge
- Knowledge of Lean Concepts
- SAP knowledge is preferred
