Piper Companies is seeking a Process Engineer to join a leading biotechnology manufacturing organization. This Process Engineer will provide hands-on support for upstream manufacturing operations with a strong focus on process equipment performance, production support, and technical troubleshooting within a GMP environment. This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working directly with manufacturing systems, investigating operational issues, and partnering with cross-functional teams to improve process reliability and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary technical owner for media preparation equipment while providing support across upstream processing operations, including bioreactors, harvest systems, and inoculum equipment.
Investigate and resolve manufacturing challenges involving process performance, equipment functionality, control systems, and production execution.
Support commercial manufacturing activities by monitoring critical operations, providing real-time technical guidance, and ensuring equipment readiness.
Lead and contribute to deviation investigations, change management activities, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation related to process equipment.
Collaborate closely with maintenance, automation, instrumentation, and manufacturing teams to optimize equipment reliability and operational performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline; Chemical Engineering background strongly preferred.
6+ years of experience supporting manufacturing process engineering activities within a regulated production environment.
Demonstrated experience working with stainless steel bioprocess equipment, including tanks, filtration systems, bioreactors, and associated utility systems.
Strong troubleshooting capabilities involving equipment operation, process controls, temperature regulation, dissolved oxygen control, pH management, HMI systems, and production automation.
Working knowledge of DeltaV systems with the ability to distinguish process-related issues from automation-related concerns and effectively support troubleshooting efforts.
Compensation
Salary Range: $130,000 - $155,000
Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, sick leave if required by law, and 401K
