Summary

Chobani continues to grow rapidly as we expand production capacity, add new product lines, and invest heavily in world-class manufacturing technologies. The Process Engineer II - CIP & Utilities plays a critical role in supporting this growth by serving as a bridge between utility operations and every area of our production processes. This role ensures that the systems powering our facility - from CIP to steam refrigeration, compressed air, and chilled water - operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.

Job Description

The Process Engineer will work closely with a team of senior process engineers, quality specialists, operators, and maintenance personnel to maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and operational performance. This position is hands-on, deeply cross-functional, and essential to ensuring our facility runs smoothly, cleanly, and with continuous improvement in mind.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert for site-wide Clean-in--Place (CIP) systems, supporting operations, maintenance, and automation.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and optimize the performance of utility systems, focusing on CIP systems, but including steam boilers, ammonia refrigeration, compressed air, chilled water, and HVAC to ensure continuous and efficient operation.
  • Collaborate with operational productivity teams on optimization and process improvements.
  • Responsible for MoC (Management of Change) process implementation for all mechanical instrumentation and automation changes for CIP systems.
  • Support maintenance in day-to-day troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all CIP equipment, ensuring reliability and minimizing downtime.
  • Responsible for tracking, trending, and reporting out all defined Process Performance Metrics (PPMs).
  • Leverage Product Excellence PPM monitoring and trending to identify potential process and equipment improvements.
  • When necessary, provide weekend on-call support to the maintenance and operations team to reduce downtime within areas of responsibility.
  • Work with the CAD team to maintain accurate drawings, P&IDs, and PFDs.
  • Support capital and process improvement projects related to CIP, such as installation or upgrades of boilers, refrigeration compressors, or heat recovery systems.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies in CIP systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Chemical engineering preferred; other engineering degrees considered.
  • 2-4 years of experience working with fluid systems, pumping operations, and heat-mass balance applications.
  • Experience in process design, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around heavy equipment and noise.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software and general data analysis tools.
  • Strong initiative, decision-making skills, communication, teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
