Graphic Packaging International is seeking a Process Control Engineer to focus on developing, improving, and troubleshooting DCS, QCS, and PLC‑based process‑control systems to maintain safe, efficient mill operations.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThis role focuses on developing, improving, and troubleshooting DCS, QCS, and PLC‑based process‑control systems while monitoring performance, optimizing control strategies, and ensuring safe, efficient mill operations. It involves collaborating with project teams, IT/OT groups, and maintenance staff; maintaining accurate documentation and providing technical support and training; supporting system upgrades and network reliability; participating in safety initiatives; and staying current with advancements in process‑control technology to drive continuous improvement across mill operations.Support daily operations by troubleshooting and improving DCS, QCS, and PLC systems—including I/O, HMI displays—while coordinating repairs and resolving control system issues.Monitor and evaluate the performance of control systems and make recommendations for improvements.Design and implement control systems to optimize production processes, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental requirements.Troubleshoot control systems and collaborate with maintenance for repairs as needed.Provide technical support and training to other staff on the use of control systems.Collaborate closely with project teams to understand process control requirements, develop functional specifications, and design efficient control strategies that optimize process performance.Diagnose control systems regularly and schedule repairs as needed.Update and maintain documentation on control systems and processes.Support software and hardware upgrades to the mill DCS systems.Collaborate with OT Resource on preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of network infrastructure that supports the mills DCS hardware and software applications to ensure a high level of performance, security, and reliability.Provide support for process control systems after hours and on rotating on‑call duty.Background / ExperiencePreferred configuration and troubleshooting experience with DCS and PLC systems, including their connected HMI displays (Honeywell Experion and TDC3000 DCS, ABB QCS, and Control Logix PLC experience are beneficial).Ability to create and review DCS, QCS, and PLC documentation.Ability to support the network and computer systems connected to automatic control systems.Education / KnowledgeBS/BA degree in Computer Science or Engineering, related field or equivalent manufacturing experience.Preferred 1‑2 years in manufacturing.Eagerness to learn DCS and PLC concepts and application.Strong interpersonal skills.Proactive problem solver.Schedule DemandsGeneral schedule is an 8‑hour M‑F assignment; however, employees must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally supporting 24/7 operations that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
