Description

REPORT TO: ENGINEERING MANAGER

PURPOSE

Responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of manufacturing technicians and providing engineering and technical support for manufacturing systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of manufacturing technical staff; participate in personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, discipline, discharge, performance reviews, interviews and selection.

Maintain engineering process, product and project records; produce and distribute appropriate reports.

Direct and document meetings with manufacturing technical staff to outline plan of action, assign tasks, responsibilities, follow up and communications; ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed cost standards.

Supervise technician responsibilities in providing sample and production molds start up, material development and other technical support.

Introduce new parts and processes into production; work with sample technician and production supervision to advance pilot program into production operations.

Process troubleshooting of injection molding processes; develop process parameters and techniques and revise as necessary to meet or exceed cost control requirements; check work methods and operations to improve quality and reduce cost.

Work with production control to coordinate sample schedules and requirements.

Work with customers, quality, and production to Insure consistent Interpretation and application of methods, standards and polices; deal with material, Inserts, mold and other related problems.

Enforce prescribed safety rules and regulations; insure work areas are maintained In a neat and orderly condition.


ADDITIONAL SKILLS OR CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience preferred
  • Rubber molding, adhesive coating, mold tooling and automation experience a preferred
  • CAD modeling, cost estimating, equipment/tooling knowledge and project management preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred
  • Technical minded
  • Assertive/self-starter required
  • Strong computer skills required
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Capable to handle multiple tasks simultaneously required
  • Teamwork and problem solving skills required.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, use hands to position or move, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/ or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs. 
  • Must be able to be on feet for extended periods of time, up to and exceeding 8 hours.
